SONOMA, Calif. - April 18, 2000 -- The newest
hotel and spa to be located in the Sonoma Valley has hit the mid point
of completion this month. The Lodge at Sonoma will open this Fall, and
along with it will come a big boom to the local economy.
The lodge is estimated to employ over 200 people which will make it one of the five largest employers in the Valley. Bed taxes for the first year of operation should exceed one million dollars for the City of Sonoma, or 20% of the City�s current general fund budget. Sales and property taxes are estimated to bring in another $200,000 for the City annually. Taking a Closer Look At The Lodge At Sonoma The Lodge at Sonoma is one of the biggest new developments in Sonoma County, one that the local Sonoma developers Barbara Thomas and Art Chatham are very proud of. The $46 million dollar project will be managed by Renaissance Hotels and Spas. �Renaissance is the perfect company to partner with this property,� stated Chatham. �They have experience with operating hotels and resorts in smaller communities. We feel that there needs to be a great deal of emphasis placed on keeping our community intact. Renaissance understands that, and is willing to make that commitment with us.� Located on 9.5 acres of land, The Lodge at Sonoma sits on the corner of HWY 12 (Broadway) and Leveroni Road, just five blocks from the historic Sonoma Plaza. The Lodge will include a spa, restaurant, conference center and 182 oversized guest rooms including four suites and eighteen cottages. There will also be space for local retail outlets. Guestrooms All the guestrooms at The Lodge at Sonoma are oversized and include some of the finest amenities around. Most rooms will include fireplaces, oversized baths and private patios. Made to feel like home, rooms will include hardwood floors, plantation shutters and area rugs, all combining to give the rooms a warm inviting atmosphere. A Conference Center for All Seasons...and Reasons The state-of-the-art conference center has been designed for corporate conferences and retreats. Over 11,000 square feet of space is available for meeting space. Space is broken down into three components: 3,080 sq. ft. ballroom, and additional meeting spaces that feature 700 to 1,100 sq. ft. of space, and the 3,000 sq. ft. wine building. In addition, The Lodge offers 11,000 square foot outdoor function space. Not only is The Lodge at Sonoma perfect for meetings and group retreats, but it will also be perfect for weddings and other gatherings as well. The Spa will include twelve indoor treatment rooms, four outdoor treatment
rooms and two watsu pools.
