MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 11, 2003 � Hampton, the national brand of
more than 1,211 mid-priced Hampton Inn® and Hampton Inn & Suites®
hotels, today announced that it opened 12 eight Hampton Inn hotels (including
one international property and one small-town prototype) in June and July
2003, representing 956 new rooms. The openings include six Hampton Inn
hotels (including one conversion property in Georgia) and six Hampton Inn
& Suites hotel hotels, bringing the brand�s total number of hotels
to 1,239 hotels in the Hampton system.
"Opening five hotels in the West in the last two months is a perfect example of where our development interests are growing overall," said Phil Cordell, senior vice-president, Hampton brand management. "Our brand also continued to expand in Latin America with the opening of a fabulous Venezuela property, our second in that country. In addition, Hampton opened its third small-town prototype, in Richfield, Utah. The first half of 2003 has been quite a good year for development," said Cordell.
