July 24–The Archer Hotel brand, whose first hotel opened in Midtown Manhattan in 2014, now aims to use its upscale amenities and convenient location to draw business people to Burlington.

The new boutique hotel will join The Bancroft, Kings and Wegman's on Burlington's 3rd Avenue.

With the hotel located 13 miles northwest of Boston and in close proximity to businesses such as Oracle, Salesforce and Keurig on the Route 128 technology corridor, Archer hopes to attract business travelers.

"The same sophisticated travelers who stay with Archer in Manhattan, Austin and soon Napa, are seeking that distinctive style and personalized experience in sophisticated Boston suburbs like Burlington," Cheryl Gilliam, senior vice president of brands and marketing at LodgeWorks Partners L.P., wrote in an email.

Kansas-based hotel management company LodgeWorks Partners, L.P. created the Archer Hotel concept and is developing Archer Hotel Burlington. The company has been involved in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years and has developed brands like the Residence Inn and Summerfield Suites.

While the Burlington atmosphere differs from that of Midtown Manhattan and the other Archer cities, the developers believe 3rd Avenue's various shops and restaurants provide an ideal location for hotel customers.

"We saw 3rd Ave as a vibrant, amenity-rich town center that will provide our guests with a walkable sense of place and ample restaurant and retail options," Gilliam wrote in an email.

The developers considered building on lots closer to the Burlington Mall before deciding the advantages of 3rd Avenue outweighed the advantages of other locations.

"It will definitely be good for businesses in the area, and it will integrate well with the 3rd Ave design concept- the walkable street with businesses, restaurants and green spaces," Liz Bonventre, assistant planner of the town of Burlington, said. "It'll add to the area."

The four-story hotel will have 147 guest rooms and suites, a cocktail bar, an indoor pool, a fitness studio, a guest market and a patio as well as many complimentary services.

According to Gilliam, Burlington and the surrounding area is comprised mostly of limited service hotels, so Archer will not be a direct competitor. Archer provides a different, full-service experience, and it is the first independent boutique hotel in Burlington, Gilliam wrote.

According to a press release, the Archer brand hopes the hotel will bring "sophistication to suburbia." Archer Hotel Burlington is set to open in 2018.
