Monday 17th - Wednesday 19th March 2014, In Lausanne, Switzerland at The Ecole Hoteliere De Lausanne

Lausanne, 12th March 2014 - The fifth edition of the Young Hoteliers Summit™ will be held this coming 17th to 19th March 2014 at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and features an inspiring line up of industry professionals, new workshops and interactive panels for its international hospitality student delegates.

Cyril Ranque, Senior Vice-President, Global Market Management at Expedia, will join the previously confirmed keynote speakers Matt Smith and Pierre Botteron of FRHI Hotels & Resorts, and Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the UNWTO, at the Young Hoteliers Summit 2014. Cyril Ranque will share his experience at Expedia and thoughts on how technology is affecting the hospitality world with the audience.

The first panel - "Career Strategies for Future GMs: Better Off in a Chain or Independent Hotel?" will delve into a group discussion between Chain Hotels and Independent Hotel Directors. The panel will be headed by Torsten Pinter, GM of Swissôtel Zurich; Roland Fasel, Regional Director of Dorchester Collection; Andrea Kracht, Chairman at The Leading Hotels of the World, and Andrés Oppenheim, GM of Grand Hôtel Suisse Majestic, Montreux. The panel aims to uncover differences in career opportunities and room for development in chain and independent hotels for graduates.

The second panel - "Hotels vs. OTAs: Does it have to be a battle?" will explore the ongoing collaboration debate between hotels and OTAs (Online Travel Agents). Together with Cyril Ranque of Expedia, Heather Leismann (Managing Director EAME, HotelTonight), Markus Schreyer (Regional Director of Marketing for East & Central Europe, Starwood Hotels & Resorts), Pascal Roult (Corporate Director of Revenue Management EMEA, Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts) and Philipp Ries (Industry Leader for Travel, Google Switzerland), will join this panel discussion. Ries is responsible for the management of Google's partnerships with its largest customers in Switzerland in the travel and tourism industry. The combination of stakeholders aims to give the delegates a chance to compare different approaches in distribution as today's entrepreneurs and hoteliers are required to be more tech-savvy.

The delegates, who will come from schools around the globe including Cornell University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Emirates Academy and Washington State University, will have an extraordinary opportunity to exchange ideas, network, and compete against each other in the challenge set by FRHI Hotels & Resorts.

The Young Hoteliers Summit is proud to share its fifth anniversary with joy this year. It has gained a superb reputation in the hospitality industry as a student-run association and has partnered with international brands such as Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, The Rezidor Hotel Group, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and FRHI Hotels & Resorts for the central challenge over its past editions. Reflecting the progress of the organisation, one of the YHS Founders, successful young professional Youri Sawerschel of Bridge.over Group will return as Workshop Provider to the event he initiated, as well as ex-team member Fritz Dickamp of UTo² - Understanding Tomorrow Today.

The Young Hoteliers Summit looks forward to meeting everyone and is excited about the unique, innovative and challenging anniversary event!

About the Young Hoteliers Summit

The Young Hoteliers Summit™ is held annually at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and was founded by a passionate group of EHL students in 2010. It is the first hospitality summit to bring together leaders and students from top hotel schools around the world, acting towards improving professional opportunities for young talents of the industry.

From its first edition in 2011, the number of hospitality schools is continually rising having started with seven schools. The summit has welcomed well renowned partners such as Hyatt, Four Seasons, Starwood and Fairmont, not to mention the presence of famous industry speakers such as Guy Crawford (then CEO, Jumeirah Group), Kurt Ritter (then President & CEO, The Rezidor Hotel Group) or Ted Teng (CEO, Leading Hoteliers of the World), making YHS a growing reference point for the hospitality industry.
