ST. LOUIS (August 21, 2017) – The Chase Park Plaza, A Royal Sonesta Hotel, is delighted to announce the appointments of two executive team members.

Matthew White, an award-winning hospitality professional, has been named the Director of Food and Beverage. In this role, White will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage operations, including dining experience, quality control, purchasing, and budgeting. White has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, including his most recent position as the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Royal Sonesta New Orleans. During his tenure, he oversaw all operations of the hotel’s six dining outlets and was responsible for re-launching one of the restaurants after an extensive renovation. White was instrumental in advancing the restaurant’s TripAdvisor ranking from 187 to 49, bringing it to the top three percent of restaurants in the city. In 2016 he was named Manager of the Year. Prior to joining Royal Sonesta New Orleans, White held a similar position with the Roosevelt Hotel, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New Orleans. White holds a certification from the Guild of Sommeliers and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. “It’s truly an honor to be part of such an iconic property, and I look forward to delivering outstanding cuisine and exceptional service to all of our guests,” says White. “There is a vibrant culinary scene in St. Louis and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

Adding depth to the hotel’s culinary team, Gunter Weber has been announced as the new Executive Chef. Classically trained in French cooking techniques, Weber went to culinary school in Switzerland and was selected for a three-year internship at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhoff, a 5-star boutique hotel. Weber honed his palate and passion for cooking while traveling the world working in Switzerland, Burma, and Washington, DC. Prior to joining Chase Park Plaza, Weber was the Chef de Cuisine at Hyatt Regency St. Louis. Recognized for his creative cooking and impressive skills, he served on the opening team for two Hyatt Regency hotels in California. As the Executive Chef at Chase Park Plaza, Weber will oversee the entire culinary and kitchen team.

These appointments follow the hotel naming David Kohlasch as General Manager.
