SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (April 22, 2014) – Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino announced today the appointment of Sam Basu as the new general manager. Basu hails from The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico, bringing more than 23 years of nuanced experience throughout the luxury hospitality industry.

As general manager, Basu will ensure a premium experience for guests of the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, the first LEED certified hotel in the Caribbean region primly situated in the heart of San Juan’s convention center district, which recently announced a $36 million expansion. As general manager, his responsibilities will encompass the day-to-day hotel operations, overseeing all aspects of the guest experience as well as the hotel’s myriad of meetings events.

Basu’s itinerant experiences in hospitality management pull from a myriad of destinations, rooted in his collegiate studies in India. His previous appointments entailed management positions at The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan Hotel; Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa; Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower, Panama; and his most recent position as hotel manager of The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico.
