ANNAPOLIS MD (APRIL 16, 2018) — In advance of its May 2018 opening, Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown has appointed Joy Wemmer as Director of Sales. A seasoned hospitality professional, Wemmer will help lead a staff of 50 at the soon-to-open hotel, which comes to the revitalizing Annapolis arts district via total renovation of an existing lodging property.

Wemmer was only 14 when she got her first job as a waitress, and thus accrued nearly a decade of hospitality experience by the time she graduated from Washington College. Joy always liked the fast-paced environment of F&B — and she loved meeting new people — so moving into hotel sales after earning her bachelor's degree seemed like a natural next step.

"It's been so rewarding to focus my career on making people happy," says Joy, who has worked in sales within the Hilton, IHG, Marriott and Starwood brands for the past 26 years.

Joy's favorite thing about downtown Annapolis is the view at the top of Main Street. "It's breathtaking — the brick-paved street, historic buildings and the nautical backdrop of Ego Alley and the Chesapeake Bay with beautiful yachts and sailboats," she says. "It's one of the loveliest spots in the country — and I can walk there from our soon-to-open Hilton Garden Inn."

Indeed, the new hotel enjoys a walkable location in the midst of the arts district, just a stroll away from the Maryland State House, government offices, shopping and dining — and only one mile from the Naval Academy. It's the only Hilton property — and the only select service hotel — in downtown Annapolis.

Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown features 121 guestrooms, including two executive suites with outdoor terraces and eight West Street-facing balcony rooms. There's 1,665 square feet of flexible meeting space and a 24/7 fitness room. The hotel's original restaurant concept — Kitchen on West St. — brings Annapolis flair to everyone's favorite fare. The Kitchen offers both indoor and outdoor seating for breakfast and casual dinner along with a specialty menu of beer, wine and crafted cocktails.

Described as upscale yet affordable, Hilton Garden Inn provides "Simple Things on Another Level," such as bright, airy social spaces and high-end amenities. The brand is noted for thoughtful touches designed to make a guest's stay easier and more comfortable.
