Three new hotels are soon to join the portfolio of Deutsche Hospitality’s subsidiary IntercityHotel GmbH at locations in Hamburg-Barmbek, Dortmund und Hildesheim. These latest additions are scheduled to open in 2018 and 2019.

Each of the hotels will bear the signature of the Italian architect Matteo Thun, whose interior design will characterise the next generation of IntercityHotels. All will have a restaurant, bar and conference area. The owner and contractual partner will be the Hamburg-based B&L Group, with which IntercityHotel GmbH has signed lease agreements for the three projects.

The new hotels represent a continuation of the strategy adopted by IntercityHotel GmbH to expanding its brand presence at attractive and strategically significant locations. “B&L has already successfully developed the IntercityHotels Leipzig, Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, Hamburg Messe-Dammtor, Braunschweig and Duisburg,” commented Joachim Maruszcyk, Managing Director of IntercityHotel GmbH. “They are a reliable partner, and we are looking forward to continuing our work together. Between three and five further agreements are planned.”

“The development of hotels and boarding houses has been one of our main project focuses for many years,” said Thorsten Testorp, Managing Partner at the B&L Group. “We are looking forward to continuing our successful cooperation with Deutsche Hospitality.”

The IntercityHotel Hamburg-Barmbek, which will be developed by the B&L Group in conjunction with “Development Partner” in Düsseldorf, is set to be completed by 2018. It will occupy the usual central IntercityHotel position only 100 metres from the station of the same name and will offer 209 rooms. This will be the fourth representation of the IntercityHotel brand in Hamburg.

The IntercityHotel Dortmund will be accommodated behind the historic facade of the “Dortberghaus”, a listed building. Direct proximity to the city’s pedestrianised shopping area will be a particularly attractive feature for guests. Located only 150 metres from the main railway station and 14 kilometres from Dortmund Airport, it will provide a total of 229 relaxing rooms from 2018 onwards.

The IntercityHotel Hildesheim will also be located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station. Hildesheim is a regional transport hub with excellent links to Germany’s major cities in all directions. The trade fair metropolis of Hanover, for example, is a mere 25 kilometres away. 148 rooms will provide the highest degree of comfort for business and leisure travellers alike. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2019.

The so-called “FreeCityTicket”, which entitles guests at IntercityHotels to use local public transport free of charge, is included in the price of overnight accommodation and delivers a real added value by reducing the travel budget of both holidaymakers and those visiting the respective cities for work reasons.
