INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (August 21, 2017) Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino announces the appointment of Michael Murphy as the property’s new general manager. Murphy has worked with Hyatt for over twenty years, starting with a career at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. Murphy brings a wide spectrum of knowledge about the Hyatt brand, having held various leadership positions at nine properties across the United States. Most recently, Murphy was the general manager at Hyatt Regency Austin in Texas where he oversaw a $20 million renovation.

Murphy began his career with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in 1996 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. and has since worked with nine properties in eight different states. Prior to his position as general manager at the Hyatt Regency Austin between 2016 and 2017, Murphy served as the general manager at Hyatt Westlake Plaza in Westlake Plaza, Calif. He also served as the executive assistant manager at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa between 2008 and 2010. Throughout his two decades-long tenure with Hyatt Corporation, Murphy has held a variety of positions within the company including guest services manager, executive housekeeper, rooms manager, front office manager, and more.

Murphy has been recognized with several awards over the years and is a two-time winner of Hyatt Corporation’s Rooms Director of the Year.
