MCLEAN, Va. – December 22, 2014 – Following the successful opening of its 2000th hotel in Bellevue, Washington and the brand’s 30th anniversary, Hampton Hotels today announced the signing of a new hotel in Hawaii – the last U.S. state without a Hampton hotel to date. The signing of Hampton’s first location in Hawaii means the brand will offer more than 2,000 locations globally including across all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

The 175-key Hampton Inn & Suites hotel is being developed by DeBartolo Development and is part of a new development called Ka Makana Ali’i – The Center for West O’ahu, a family-friendly, mixed-use gathering place for travelers and community members alike. Located conveniently in the West Oahu trade area, both the center and hotel expect to host a variety of travelers and residents seeking shopping, relaxation and entertainment. Ka Makana Ali’i will feature a 1.4 million-square-foot regional shopping center with more than 150 new shops and restaurants, a cinema and LEED-certified office space.

“Hawaii has been a part of Hilton Worldwide’s history since the 1960s with the opening of the first Hilton Hawaiian Village tower,” said Bill Fortier, senior vice president, development – Americas, Hilton Worldwide. “As one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations, it is only fitting to expand Hampton Hotels to Hawaii, bringing a successful mid-priced product to the market.”

Phase one of the Ka Makana Ali’i is expected to open in 2016, with the hotel breaking ground mid-2015.

“DeBartolo Development is very excited to welcome Hampton Inn & Suites to the growing roster of world-class tenants at Ka Makana Ali’i,” said Edward Kobel, President and Chief Operating Officer of DeBartolo Development. “The addition of a globally-recognized hotel brand to the West Oahu market will make it easier for kama’aina and visitors alike to enjoy all the area has to offer, including the extensive shopping, dining and entertainment options at Ka Makana Ali’i.”

This latest announcement in the brand’s 30th year comes after the opening of Hampton’s 2000th hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites Bellevue Downtown-Seattle, during a special grand opening celebration on Thursday, December 11. The new 128-room hotel, owned by Palmetto Hospitality and managed by OTO Development hotel continues the longstanding Hampton tradition of providing guests with excellence in service and comfort backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

“This has been an exciting year for Hampton, having first celebrated 30 years as a brand, then opening our 2000th hotel, and now entering into the 50th U.S. state,” said Phil Cordell, global head, focused service and Hampton brand management, Hilton Worldwide. “We’re excited to bring our friendly and authentic culture of Hamptonality to both business and leisure travelers visiting beautiful Oahu.”
