PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL. (June 7, 2017) – A quintessential Florida vacation destination for generations of memories, Sheraton Bay Point Resort – the only AAA Four Diamond Rated resort in Panama City Beach – and nationally recognized operator Crescent Hotels & Resorts announce the appointment of Jean Capps as the new general manager. From the early days of her hospitality career as a director of sales and marketing to the past decade of general manager experience and successes within impressive Florida resorts, Capps brings incredible expertise and vibrancy to the iconic Sheraton Bay Point Resort.
“After an extensive nationwide search, we determined Jean Capps as the ideal fit for our re-imagined resort,” says Michael George, president and chief executive officer, Crescent Hotels & Resorts. “Jean brings the perfect mix of valuable full-service, Florida resort leadership, coupled with her creative approach to creating top-notch guest experience at her properties, making her the perfect choice to lead the helm at Sheraton Bay Point Resort.”
After gaining valuable experience in sales, food and beverage, and operations, Capps served as general manager for more than eight years at Florida-based resorts – B Ocean (Ft. Lauderdale), Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel, Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek and Sheraton Suites Plantation. Notably, Capps led the transition from the former Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach to the new B Ocean Fort Lauderdale, touting great success in the elevation of guest experience while decreasing overall operational expenses. A vast industry and brand award recipient, Capps was most recently recognized by Performance Hospitality with the 2016 People’s Choice Award for Most Inspiring. An active tourism industry volunteer, Capps volunteered her professional time on boards including the Beach Improvement District, the Beach Council, the GFLCVB Marketing Advisory Committee and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association.
“The opportunity to continue my management career here at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is an incredible one, “says Capps. “This property has long been an icon within this destination, and I’m thrilled to work with the incredible team in showcasing the re-imagined resort while continuing to discover ways to elevate the overall guest experience.”
Unveiling after an impressive $30 million-dollar renovation and rebranding, Sheraton Bay Point Resort creates a personalized coastal experience with the highest standard of hospitality. Speckled by palm trees and encircled in natural beauty, the modern new design, five distinctive resort dining options, more than 60,000 sq. ft. of group space, and full service spa, bring the 320-room, wellness-focused resort to its peak, offering an experience rich with amenities for every guest visiting one of Florida’s favorite destinations. Including the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida, a private bay beach, three pools, direct boat access to Shell Island, watersports and tennis, Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Starwood Hotels & Resorts property in the region.
