Oct. 31–The Wyndham Garden hotel in Mount Pleasant is now taking reservations.

The seven-story, 119-room lodging at 1330 Stuart Engals Blvd. is the first large, branded hotel to open in that area of Mount Pleasant near Chuck Dawley Boulevard.

The owner and operator is Columbia-based IMIC Hotels, which also oversees 14 other lodgings in five states.

The Wyndham Garden replaced the rundown Fort Moultrie Motel that had been shuttered for several years.

Bert Pooser III, vice president of IMIC, said last year that the company chose the area because of its proximity to the beaches such as Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island, and the easy-access to North Charleston via I-526.

The Wyndham Garden is the mid-tier hotel brand owned by Wyndham Hotel Group, and it’s typically marketed to business and casual leisure travelers.

Average room rates at the Mount Pleasant hotel run from $129-$229 per night, depending on size, amenities and season.
