May 29–Developers broke ground on a new four-story hotel near Grovetown.
Home2 Suites by Hilton, with 118 rooms, is now under construction and is scheduled for completion in second quarter of 2016.
The extended-stay hotel is part of multiple commercial developments in the Gateway corridor near Grovetown’s exit off Interstate 20.
The hotel, at 903 Husk Box Way, will cost $7.9 million, according to the commercial construction permit. It is owned by Grovetown Hospitality Associates and will be managed by Plamondon Hospitality Partners.
The project is in Mill Branch at the Gateway, a 67-acre, mixed-use site that has been under development since 2013. Construction in the development also includes 136 more units in the RiverStone Apartment Community.
