NEW YORK (April 28, 2014) - Trump SoHo® New York, the first Trump Hotel Collection property in downtown Manhattan and the neighborhood's only AAA Five Diamond rated hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Lee as executive chef overseeing culinary operations for the 391-room hotel. With more than ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, Chef Lee has held leadership positions at several of the finest hotels, restaurants and private clubs in the New York metropolitan area. Widely regarded in the culinary industry for his talent and passion for local and seasonal fare, Chef Lee will oversee all in-room dining and banquet catering for Trump SoHo.
"Brian has been recognized throughout his career for being a visionary chef and corporate trainer, creating compelling yet approachable menu concepts and leveraging in-depth knowledge to significantly increase operational efficiency," said Andreas Oberoi, general manager of Trump SoHo New York. "We look forward to implementing his unique approach to the signature private dining and event catering experiences at Trump SoHo."
Regarding his new post, Chef Lee remarked, "I look forward to updating the menu and have been experimenting with some new dishes to fully leverage the fresh ingredients that we receive daily from our local purveyors. We work to ensure that our cuisine inspires and delights our discerning guests, and is a direct reflection of Trump SoHo's unique standing as the area's only full-service luxury hotel."
Chef Lee is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and has held posts at New York's iconic 21 Club restaurant, Four Seasons Restaurant in New York, and New York Hilton Midtown, among others. Born and raised in South Korea, Chef Lee was exposed to exceptional cuisine early on through his grandmother's inspired dishes. An incredible chef, Chef Lee's grandmother was evacuated from North Korea to South Korea during the Korean War, and in turn, merged traditional dishes from both regions to create something familiar, yet entirely new. The recipes were passed down to Chef Lee and, though his cuisine ranges in flavor and regional influence, these cherished flavors serve as a constant source of inspiration.
Chef Lee will leverage his expertise in international cuisine to oversee and expand upon Trump SoHo's dining options. Global travelers feel right at home with the in-room dining menu's unparalleled International Breakfast Meals, featuring authentic Chinese, European, Greek, Japanese, Mexican, and Scandinavian dishes. Also featured are Asian Delights, sandwiches inspired by Manhattan's neighborhoods, and dedicated Little Italy all-day dining sections. Chef Lee will also oversee the dining component of the hotel's Trump Wellness program. Launched in 2013 by Trump Hotel Collection, Trump Wellness includes Nourish, providing guests with an in-room dining menu of vegan, gluten-free and organic selections with complete nutritional values available, as well as Quick Bites, an express in-room menu that includes health-wise and delicious options that are designed to accommodate busy on-the-go lifestyles with delivery guaranteed in 15 minutes or less. All menu items are developed by the hotel's culinary team and made from certified organic ingredients that are sourced locally and delivered fresh daily.
In his new role, Chef Lee will also manage banquet operations for Trump SoHo, which boasts over 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. The stylish and customizable venues provide the perfect backdrop for downtown's most spectacular weddings, social events, and corporate meetings. All of Trump SoHo's events are planned with the assistance of the hotel's special events team, directed by seasoned leaders with five-star hotel experience, providing each event with a personal touch.
