Charlottesville, Va., June 26, 2015 – AJ Capital Partners is pleased to announce that on June 25, 2015, Graduate Charlottesville officially opened its doors. Joining Graduate Athens in Georgia, Graduate Tempe in Arizona and Graduate Madison in Wisconsin, the hotel collection targets college markets across America while celebrating each respective town’s culture and history. The 135-room hotel, formerly the Red Roof Inn Charlottesville – University of Virginia, will be located just blocks away from The Rotunda and the University of Virginia’s grounds on historic Main Street, overlooking the famed Corner stretch of restaurants and bars. The hotel will also feature two food and beverage concepts: Sheepdog Coffee and a rooftop bar and restaurant, which will open this fall.

Created for travelers who seek memory-making journeys, Graduate Hotels are part of a well-curated, thoughtfully crafted collection of hotels that reside in the most unique college towns across the country. Every property celebrates and commemorates the optimistic energy of its community, while offering an extended retreat to places that often played host to the best days of our lives. Additional locations including Oxford, Miss.; Richmond, Va. and Durham, N.C. are slated to open over the next year.

“We are excited to join the Charlottesville community who embodies everything that Graduate strives to represent – an appreciation for education, passion for craftsmanship and the desire to never stop learning,” says Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners.

Graduate Charlottesville is inspired by the sophisticated preppy style of the city and its community. The hotel’s interiors will feature a warm color palette of pine greens, warm rose, cream and burgundy. Guest rooms will feature subtle nods to some of Charlottesville’s most famous citizens, as well as its folklore, history and contributions to the world.

“Graduate Charlottesville was designed with an eye on America’s colonial past, while also looking to the future, using Thomas Jefferson’s philosophy of cutting edge design and new ideas,” says Chief Creative Officer, Andrew Alford. “Classic elements such as parquet floors, plaid carpets, and vintage library inspired furniture will live side-by-side an antique card catalogue cabinet with glass display top featuring a functioning model train set, contemporary art, and nods to the area’s forward thinking citizens.”

Located off the lobby, Sheepdog Coffee, the hotel’s grab-and-go, coffee shop, is the perfect place to study, relax or meet a fellow cavalier. Sheepdog has partnered with local businesses to serve a selection of Charlottesville favorites including: coffee from Mudhouse Coffee Roasters, an assortment of charcuterie from JM Stock Provisions, French pastries from MarieBette, artisan bread from Albemarle Baking Co., cold pressed juice and nut milk from The Juice Laundry and Lumi Juice, a variety of cheeses from Mountain View Farm, cider doughnuts from Carter Mountain Orchard, honey from Whistle Creek Apiaries and local baked goods from Oakhurst Cafe.

Guests can head upstairs to the game room on the second floor, which will include a bar area and table games such as ping pong and shuffleboard. In the fall, a rooftop bar and restaurant will open and feature 2,600 feet of flexible event and meeting space with views of the Grounds and the Downtown Mall. It will be the ideal location for weddings and galas to boardroom meetings and intimate gatherings.
