Lower Rates On Hotel Reservation System Modem & Data Lines. |
| Most of the major hotels in the United States that have a “brand” such
as Ramada, Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, and Hyatt, to name a few, have
their individual hotel properties hooked up to their “central reservation
system”. In a lot of cases, to accomplish accessing the data that
will come in from the Airline Reservation Systems which are called “CRS”
(Central Reservation System), the hotel has to run a “private line”, also
called a “data line” from its physical location to their nearest phone
switch, which could be 20 miles away.
The hotel is charged a monthly fee from the Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) that puts in the “data line” and then; transmits the traffic to and from the switch. Furthermore, when the “data line” gets to the switch, it is rerouted to wherever the main network terminal is for the CRS. Most hotels do not know that for their “data lines”, there is an alternative that can save them money. The company is American Telesis, which provides all of the “data lines” for Bell Atlantic and Nations Bank. They have the ability to actually do a “Free Analysis” of the existing “data lines” and provide a cost reduction to the hotel on this “dedicated” phone line. In some cases, the hotel will actually keep the same carrier. For example, if a hotel had a “data line” with Pacific Bell, then; American Telesis might be able to access a “wholesale” rate on that “data line”, and keep the hotel on Pacific Bell from the distance that Pacific Bell is sending the call locally. American Telesis can then also access the “long distance” part of the transmission to the central network computer of the hotel to further lower the hotels cost.
