Omni Hotels Announces Plans to Build 732-Room Omni
Orlando Resort at Champions Gate in Orlando, Fla.
Future Development Signifies Companys Commitment
to Key-Market Expansion

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 24, 2000 - Omni Hotels today announced its plans to build a $150 million luxury resort hotel in the Champions Gate master-planned community located in Orlando, Fla.  The property is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2002.

Overlooking two world-class golf courses designed by golf pro Greg Norman and situated less than five miles from Walt Disney World, the new Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate will feature 732 guest rooms and suites.  In addition, the luxury property will feature more than 70,000 square feet of meeting space, including 37 meeting rooms, a 26,000-square-foot ballroom and 20,000-square-foot ballroom.  The four-star-quality hotel also will include a 10,000-square-foot spa facility, six restaurants and bars, a formal swimming pool, as well as an activity pool with water slides and a lazy river.  World-renowned golf instructor David Leadbetter also will open the David Leadbetter Golf Academy as part of the 1,200-acre complex.

According to Jim Caldwell, president of Omni Hotels, the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate supports the hotel chains strategy of expanding into key U.S. markets to create a stronger presence for the company in important tourist destinations.

The Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate will be a significant addition to our portfolio of luxury hotels, increasing our presence in one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, said Caldwell.  The new resort will provide both business and leisure travelers in Central Florida with an upscale lodging experience in a secluded setting, and access to world-class golf and spa facilities.

The Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate is being developed by Apollo Real Estate Advisors and RIDA Development Corporation, and will be managed by Omni Hotels.  Construction on the hotel will begin in the spring of 2001 and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2002.  RTKL Associates Inc. is the architecture firm overseeing construction of the property, and Looney & Associates will be designing the interior of the hotel.  Both firms are based in Dallas.

The Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate is the second new development project announced by Omni Hotels this year.  In June, the company announced that it was allocating more than $100 million to convert the historic Financial Center Building in downtown San Francisco into the new 362-room Omni San Francisco Hotel.  Also announced this year, in downtown Atlanta, Omni Hotels is partnering with Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. on a $100 million expansion of the Omni Hotel at CNN Center, which will include the addition of a 593-room, 24-story hotel tower.

Omni Hotels, based near Dallas in Irving, Texas, offers luxury accommodations at more than 40 hotels and resorts located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Each property in the Omni Hotels portfolio provides guests with exceptional four-diamond hospitality, personalized service and exquisite decor, creating a distinctive experience at each location.
