Hotel Fredensborg Owner and Manager Birte Jensen
Signs Franchise Agreement with Radisson SAS;
Seeking Global Reach Without Compromising Local Aspect
Brussels, 17th November 2000…. Today, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts is celebrating the grand opening of the first-class Hotel Fredensborg. With a recently signed franchise agreement, the well-known property in the main city of Bornholm, Ronne, has been re-named Radisson SAS Fredensborg Hotel, making it the company’s tenth hotel in Denmark.

General Manager Birte Jensen has run the near-shore Hotel Fredensborg since 1968, and will remain owner and manager of the hotel, when it joins Radisson SAS. She comments: “Today, it is crucial to think global without compromising the local aspect. Hotel Fredensborg – and Bornholm – will now be part of a quality chain and a world wide marketing- and reservation network. More than 100 staff members are ready to welcome guests from around the globe and make sure they return to their homes with a positive experience of the hotel and the cuisine. Not to mention our nature and culture, and the traditional gastronomy of Bornholm.”

Hotel Fredensborg, which was a Best Western hotel until December 31st, 1999, is situated in picturesque, green surroundings about 2,5 km south of Ronne, and 3 km from the island’s airport. The 72 rooms, all facing the sea with either a balcony or a terrace, have recently had major renovations. The hotel has a leading position in the society of Bornholm, be it for an official state visit or a silver wedding, business or pleasure.

The cuisine of the hotel is recommended in many gastronomy guides.  Guests have a choice of a ‘á la carte’ or fish restaurant, a café and a bar. The meeting- and conference facilities can accommodate up to 350 persons, and the hotel offers tennis courts, a sauna, spa and solarium to relax. Children can enjoy their special in- and outdoor areas with toys and activities.

“We are proud that Hotel Fredensborg has chosen to co-operate with us,” says Jan Kjær Nielsen, acting Regional Director of Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts in Denmark.
He continuous: “It is a great advantage for us that we can add this well-established and highly respected property to our Danish portfolio, supporting our home-market strategy with broad national coverage. Over the years, Hotel Fredensborg has built a solid reputation by providing a high quality product and excellent service. Also, the hotel has been instrumental in the integration of the many opportunities and activities the island has to offer, both for tourists and business travellers”

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts currently includes 108 hotels in operation and 26 hotels under development in 38 countries and is the sole franchisor in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa for Radisson Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
