La Quinta Replacing a 30-year-old Hotel With a New 168-room Prototype Featuring Residential 
Style Architecture at DFW Airport 
DALLAS - Dec. 18, 2000 -- La Quinta®Inns, Inc�s. new prototype hotel will offer travelers a new lodging option near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport when the Inn opens in 2002.

Construction on the new La Quinta® Inn will begin shortly after the first of the year and is expected to continue through 2001.  The La Quinta® Inn, located at 4105 W. Airport Freeway near the south entrance of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, will be torn down on Friday, Dec. 29 and the new, redesigned Inn will open in January 2002.

Replacing the 30-year-old hotel will be a new five story, 168-room prototype La Quinta Inn that features residential style architecture and decor reflective of the region. Amenities will include an enhanced continental breakfast, fitness room, guest laundry facility and business center.

�This Inn�s proximity to D/FW International Airport allows us to show off our new prototype to our loyal, frequent guests and hopefully encourage new visitors,� said Butch Cash, president and CEO for La Quinta Inns, Inc. �This hotel will be a model for La Quinta properties that will be developed over the next few years.�

La Quinta unveiled several designs for the new hotels last month. The addition of the newly restyled hotels coincides with the launch of La Quinta�s franchise program, which will allow the company to continue its long-term growth and expand the La Quinta brand nationally.

Dallas-based La Quinta Inns, Inc. owns and operates 230 Inns and 70 Inn & Suites in 28 states. La Quinta is the lodging division of The Meditrust Companies (NYSE: MT), a real estate investment trust.
