Worldwide Director of Interior Design |
| NEWPORT BEACH, California, June, 2000 - Internationally
renowned for hospitality, leisure and entertainment architecture, the firm
of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WAT&G) has expanded the scope of
its services by creating additional interior design capabilities, and naming
David Weisberg, AIA, as WAT&G’s worldwide director of interior design.
Weisberg is a registered architect with over 25 years of experience directing interior design projects in Europe, Asia and North America. “For years, many of our clients have been asking for us to design the interiors as well as the exteriors of the buildings we create,” states WAT&G president and chief executive officer Ron Holecek. “With David on board, we can now respond to these requests affirmatively and provide our clients with a seamless, well-coordinated process and a world-class design product.” Prior to joining WAT&G, Weisberg worked for several notable design firms including, most recently, Hirsch-Bedner Associates (HBA), where he was the director of their Los Angeles office for ten years. Prior to that, he was a project designer with Welton Becket Associates and Ecart International/Andre Putman (in Paris). He is a native New Yorker, a graduate of Cornell University, and has been a speaker at numerous hospitality and educational conferences and events. According to Holecek, “David Weisberg is no stranger to the firm. He has collaborated with WAT&G on several projects in the past, including Hyatt Regency Coolum in Australia; the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki; Palm Hills Golf Resort in Okinawa; Senayan Square in Jakarta; The Venetian Hotel Resort Casino in Las Vegas; and Lotte World in Tokyo. Now, it’s great to have him in-house, as an integral part of WAT&G, directing our interiors efforts.” Interiors billings currently account for 15% of revenues in WAT&G’s Honolulu office and are expected to grow steadily in the firm’s other offices—Newport Beach, London and Singapore—as opportunities arise. “I have respected the work of WAT&G for many years and valued our professional relationship,” says Mr. Weisberg. “It is clear to me that being able to offer vertically-integrated services to clients is a significant trend. In fact, there has been a dramatic shift from the adversarial relationship between architects and interior designers previously encouraged by some owners and operators to the desire for a more collaborative spirit, as evidenced by the many requests from clients for us to provide concurrent services. Along with excellent design, it appears that coordination continuity, seamless service, and a single point of responsibility are highly valued today.” David can be reached at dweisberg@watg.com. WAT&G is recognized as the world’s number one planning, design and consulting firm specializing in hospitality, leisure and entertainment, according to World Architecture magazine. Since its founding in 1945, WAT&G has worked on projects in 119 countries and territories. The firm has completed more hotels and resorts than any other design consultancy anywhere. |
