Mark Manring Named Vice President of Operations
for Larry Blumberg & Associates
DOTHAN, Alabama (April 6, 2000) - - - - Larry Blumberg, Chairman and CEO, announces the appointment of Mark Manring as Vice President of Operations for Larry Blumberg & Associates, a full service hotel development and management company.

Manring, a 20-year veteran of the hospitality industry, will be responsible for the operations of all 18 LBA-managed hotels, including the new Courtyard Lakeland (FL), and the Fairfield Inn Tallahassee (FL).  He will also focus on expanding the companys equity partner and management contract business.

What prompted Manrings decision to join the company was LBAs operational culture, and in particular, its reputation with Marriott corporate.  LBA is very focused on the associates and customer service, Manring says.  And theyve won quite a few awards to prove it.

LBAs recent decision to contract manage compatible hotels for other owners was particularly appealing.  There is a real opportunity in the industry for this service and LBA has the capabilities to do a very effective job in this area.

Manring brings extensive experience in full-service hotel management and financial systems to LBA. He has been general manager for more than 10 large full service hotels and has worked as a regional director of operations for three of the top ten hotel management companies.

Prior to joining LBA, he was with GF Management, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA, where he oversaw 22 hotel properties ranging in size from 149 rooms to 345 rooms with over 400,000 sq. ft. of catering space.  Manring was responsible for nearly $50 million in the renovation and repositioning of 12 former Harley hotels.

Before GF, he spent five years as a regional director of operations for Interstate Hotel Company - then the largest management firm in the industry.  He was responsible for the operations of 20 different hotels that included Marriott, Hilton and Sheraton.  Manrings region was No. 1 in every category - revenue increases, profitability, associate and customer servicefor three years running.

Not one to waste time, Manring says he expects to add two more hotels to LBAs portfolio within his first 90 days of employment and grow the business to 30 hotels by the end of the year.

I feel LBA is right on the verge of taking off, Manring says.  I think they are going to be a major force in the hotel industry in the next two to three years.
