Arthur Adler has been named Chief Executive Officer, Americas
NEW YORK, March 9, 2000 -  Peter Barge, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, today announced three new appointments in the United States and the opening of a Miami office on May 1.
  • Arthur Adler has been named Chief Executive Officer, Americas, for Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, reporting to Mr. Barge.
  • Christoph Harle is relocating to the New York office to serve as Senior Vice President, and
  • Christian Charre is joining the firm as Vice President and will open its Miami office.
Mr. Harle and Mr. Charre report to Mr. Adler. All appointments are effective immediately.

Arthur Buser, Senior Vice President, will continue his role overseeing the group's Los Angeles office. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, the world's leading hotel investment banking services group and a wholly owned subsidiary of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (NYSE: JLL), has 17 offices in eleven countries, including three in the Americas with the expansion into Miami.

Mr. Adler, who is based in New York, joins Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels as CEO to oversee investment activities throughout America. With over 20 years of hotel industry experience, Mr. Adler replaces Doug Hercher, who recently resigned from the company. Mr. Adler was previously Managing Director and head of Sonnenblick Goldman International Hotel Group. Prior to that, he was a Partner with Coopers Lybrand's Lodging and Leisure Group and previously worked with Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Mr. Harle is responsible for the international marketing of U.S. hotels whose owners are seeking offshore investors. In particular, he will target German-based investment funds, which have increased their investment activity in U.S. real estate. Mr. Harle was previously in charge of the Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels' Frankfurt office.

Mr. Charre is charged with establishing the group's Miami office. He previously held financial director positions with Hilton Hotels, Russia Aeroflot Airlines and Club Med. During his 20-year hotel industry career, Mr. Charre has worked in international markets including Bali, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Mexico, Russia and the Dominican Republic. Most recently, he has been active in hotel transactions in the Midwestern United States with Hotel Source in Chicago.

"As the leading hotel investment banking services group in Europe and Asia Pacific, we believe these appointments, coupled with the imminent appointments in our debt facilities area, will position us to quickly claim the number one mantle in the United States," said Mr. Barge. "This growth will also enable Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels to offer both global and U.S. clients a range and quality of transaction services, along with strategic and financial services, currently unavailable in the market.

"Over the last 12 months, the group has executed a number of high profile sales, including the Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills, the Seoul Hilton, the Hyatt Regency Istanbul, Green Park Hotel in London, and the Parkroyal Gold Coast in Australia," continued Mr. Barge. "In fact, during the last 24 months, we have sold hotels in 75 cities across the globe at an average yield of 7.9 percent. Moreover, our advisory group has undertaken investment banking appraisal and hotel strategic counseling assignments in 278 cities, covering 200,306 rooms for hotels with a cumulative value of $29.8 billion."

"I believe the global economy will create increased opportunities for investment firms with a worldwide platform and that international hotel equity funds are again beginning to look seriously at U.S. hotel assets," said Mr. Adler. "With more than 6,400 real estate professionals worldwide within Jones Lang LaSalle, our hotel group is ideally positioned to tap new capital markets. This hotel group is well-respected and offers a broader range of services than its global competitors and that's why I joined Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels."
