Hyatt Starts Construction on 450-room
Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort
Located in Bonita Springs, Florida
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- January 20, 2000 -- A Hyatt flag will be raised today on the site of the new Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort to commemorate the official beginning of construction for the brand-new 450-room resort located in Bonita Springs, near Naples on South Floridas prestigious Gulf Coast.

The new Hyatt Regency Coconut Point is scheduled to open in Fall 2001 and is the first Hyatt hotel breaking ground in the 21st century. It will be owned by Hyatt Equities, LLC and will be managed by Hyatt Corporation. The resort will complement Hyatts six other Florida and Caribbean golf resorts in: Orlando, Aruba, Grand Cayman, Dorado Beach and Cerromar Beach, P.R., and St. Lucia (scheduled to open March 2000.)

The new 450-room resort will be part of Pelican Landing, a master-planned community in Bonita Springs being developed by WCI Communities, one of Floridas largest community developers and homebuilders. Pelican Landing is approximately 15 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Naples. Hyatt Regency Coconut Point will offer access to an adjacent 18-hole championship golf course developed and owned by a joint venture of Hyatt and WCI Communities. Guests will also enjoy a private beach island, eco-tours on pristine Estero Bay, a Hyatt-signature landscaped swimming pool area resplendent with native flora, outdoor whirlpool spas, a 10,200 sq. ft. spa, a Regency Club VIP concierge floor and a full array of Camp Hyatt activities for children.

To cater to groups and meetings, the resort will feature a 14,000 sq. ft. ballroom, a 7,000 sq. ft. junior ballroom and a full complement of meeting rooms and boardrooms. Other design details throughout the resort are being finalized, but as in all Hyatt resorts, its character and atmosphere will accurately reflect its location.

We are confident that Hyatts customers will enjoy the charm and natural beauty of South Floridas Gulf Coast, said Scott Miller, president, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. At this new resort, the blend of the regions lifestyle with Hyatts special brand of hospitality will make for a truly unique resort experience, he added.

In addition to Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, Hyatts recent $500 million resort expansion includes the construction of new resorts in St. Lucia and Lake Las Vegas, which opened in December 1999. New Hyatt resorts in New Mexico and Chesapeake Bay, Maryland are also under construction. Hyatts resort expansion also includes a recently completed $55 million renovation at Hyatt Regency Cerromar Beach Resort & Casino and Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Casino, both located in Puerto Rico, and the addition of 53 beachfront suites at Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Resort & Villas.

The creation of Hyatt Regency Coconut Point and the rest of Hyatts resort expansion are part of the companys overall growth strategy. In addition to the resort expansion, five other Hyatt hotels are under construction: Park Hyatt Chicago, which is being built as part of a new 67-story mixed-use building near Chicagos Water Tower; Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade in downtown Cleveland; Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport, which will be the first hotel connected to the airports new Midfield Terminal; Hyatt Regency Calgary, a 355-room hotel downtown; and Hyatt Regency Penns Landing, located along Philadelphias Delaware River waterfront.

Major hotel expansions, one nearing completion at Hyatt Regency Dallas and another planned for Hyatt Regency San Diego, are also important parts of the company's growth strategy. In addition, Hyatt International Corporation has more than 30 hotels under development in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia.
