Stormont Trice Names Larry Bundy GM at 
Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and 
Waterfront Conference Center
PORTSMOUTH, VA - February 3, 2000 - The developer of the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center, which is now over 50 percent complete, has named an industry veteran with past ties to Hampton Roads to manage the property. 

Tim Grambley, senior vice president of hotel operations for Stormont Trice Corp. announced last week that Larry Bundy has been named the hotel�s general manager.  Bundy will start his new position in late February.

�We�re pleased to have Larry on board for this project.  He is anxious to return to the Portsmouth-Norfolk community,� Grambley said.  �Larry has a wealth of experience in hotel management and is well acquainted with the challenges and excitement of opening new properties.�

Bundy joined Stormont Trice Corporation in 1994 as the front office manager and director of room operations at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel, which the company also developed in Portsmouth�s neighboring city.  He became resident manager at the Norfolk Marriott before transferring to Wichita in 1997 to open the Hyatt Regency Wichita and become that property�s director of operations.  Then, in 1999, he moved once again to the Marriott�s Bay Point Resort Village in Panama City Beach, Fla., as director of resort operations. 

Prior to his assignment in Norfolk, Bundy worked for the Marriott Corporation in several markets in a number of management capacities, including housekeeping, hotel services, front office and recreation.  Marriott�s Grand Hotel Resort and Golf Club in Point Clear, Ala., and at Marriott�s Rivercenter Hotel in San Antonio.  He began his career in the hotel industry in 1983 as resident tennis professional at Marriott�s Marco Island Resort, (location). 

Larry and his wife, Karen, will be relocating to the Portsmouth area during the spring.

Located along the historic riverfront of Olde Towne in Portsmouth, Va., the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center is scheduled to receive guests in September 2000.  The $46 million hotel will offer 250 rooms and suites, 24,000 sq. ft. of meeting and function space, an Executive Learning Center and case study amphitheater; restaurant and lounge; concierge lounge; business center; indoor pool with sun deck; health club; gift shop and a 458 space parking garage. 

The Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center is being developed and managed by Stormont Trice Corp. of Atlanta.  The company currently manages a diverse portfolio of 11 hotels and resorts, and five conference centers.
