Vistana, Inc. Building Complex of 1,450 Villas 
Along International Drive in Orlando
 
Orlando, Florida - October 12, 1999  � Vistana, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Starwood Resorts and Hotels, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) recently began construction on its second large-scale vacation ownership resort in the industry�s most popular market, Orlando, Florida.  When completed, the Vistana Vacation Villages will add up to 1,450 villas to Vistana�s current inventory in Orlando of more than 1,700 vacation ownership units.

�Orlando is one of the world�s most popular tourist destinations and we are excited to continue a tradition of excellence established nearly 20 years ago when we first opened Vistana Resort,� said Jeffrey A. Adler, president and co-chief executive officer of Vistana, Inc.  �Our newest resort will be located along the popular tourist corridor of International Drive and will offer the same guest experiences and quality that have earned us numerous accolades including being named to Conde Nast�s Gold List of the top 500 resorts in the world.�

The first phase of the Vistana Vacation Villages is expected to be completed next summer and will include a 45,000 square-foot sales center and reception building, an exercise facility, game room, basketball court and two swimming pool complexes. 

Vistana Vacation Villages will celebrate the architectural diversity of Florida from the original settlement of St. Augustine to the conch architecture of the Keys.  Each section of the property will represent a specific architectural influence and time period beginning with the Spanish and Moorish influences that prevailed architecture popularized in Palm Beach.  Additional sections of the resort will feature Folk Victorian architecture of Florida seaside developments, the conch architecture of Key West and an art deco section reminiscent of the South Beach area of Miami.

�In designing this property, we wanted to create a Village environment that captures the various influences of Florida�s most popular destinations,� said Raymond L. �Rip� Gellein, chairman and co-chief executive officer of Vistana, Inc.  �Construction is proceeding on schedule and we eager to welcome our first guests next summer.�

The villa�s interiors will give owners and guests spacious accommodations that offer privacy and a home-like feel.  Each villa will feature a fully equipped kitchen, large master suite with whirlpool tubs, separate living and dining room, stereo and CD player, and in-room washer and dryer.  There will be televisions in each of the bedrooms and living room and each villa will have a balcony overlooking the property.
