| PHOENIX, Oct. 1, 1999 - Bill Jacoby has recently been appointed to
project director, Strategic Planning at Best Western International Inc.
In his new position, Jacoby will provide direct support to senior management
and the Best Western board of directors to determine the strategic direction
of the organization. He will also be responsible for developing an ongoing
system of market intelligence to ensure the understanding of consumer trends
and strategies and executing international research projects, while selecting
consultants and overseeing project costs and schedules.
Jacoby comes to Best Western International Inc. from Insurers Administrative Corp. where he was the director of the International Division. Jacoby earned a master's degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) and has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Arizona. He has also studied in England and Spain and is fluent in Spanish. "Best Western International Inc. is pleased to welcome Bill," says Jim Evans, president and chief executive officer. "We know that he brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to his new position." PHOENIX, Oct. 1, 1999 - Long time marketing executive David Scholefield was named the new director of Field Marketing at Best Western International. In this new position Scholefield will oversee the development of the Co-ops (state, provincial and regional groups of Best Western hotel owners who collectively work together to market their properties). His key roles are to make the Co-ops the primary communication vehicle for marketing initiatives between hoteliers and Best Western corporate staff, provide feedback through member meetings and maximize marketing efforts of both the Co-ops and Best Western corporately. His charge is to provide tangible results for Co-op members through the measurement of their various initiatives.
Scholefield's 20-year industry career includes sales and marketing positions at individual hotels and international hotel companies such as Delta Hotels and Days Inn. He has served on the board of directors of the Hotel Association of Canada and was an executive member of the Canadian Tourism Commission's Domestic Committee. Best Western International is a membership association of independently owned and operated hotels. It is the world's largest lodging brand with more than 3,800 hotels in 81 countries and territories. |
