Point Grace: Boutique Hotel Set to Open
in the Turks and Caicos

Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands  - November 11, 1999 -  Point Grace, a new boutique hotel, is set to open in the Turks & Caicos Islands January 29, 2000. Designed to bring a new level of luxury to the island of Providenciales, the hotel redefines contemporary service and style, with 30 exceptional suites and breathtaking penthouses. Situated on what is considered one of the worlds best beaches, Point Graces British Colonial atmosphere sets the tone for an engaging assortment of services and amenities -- from complimentary Indonesian sarongs and exclusive bath amenities, to a staff that lights scented oil lamps at turn-down and serves fresh fruit sorbets on the beach.

The retreat derives its name from its singular location at Grace Bay Point and is inspired in every way by the legacy of its namesake, Grace Hutchings, who honeymooned there more than 100 years ago.

Featuring 30 one-, two- and three-bedroom suitesthe smallest, 1080 sq.  ft.almost all with uninterrupted sea views from the sliding glass doors that open onto expansive terraces. Magnificently furnished with Indonesian hardwood and teak furniture brightened by Indonesian silk, cotton and linen fabrics, the suites are luxurious, yet livable. King-size beds are adorned in Frette linens. Hand-painted tile and mahogany form a tranquil ambience in spacious bathrooms that feature hair dryers, Frette robes and exclusive bath amenities. Each suite has central air conditioning, ceiling fans and full kitchens.

Point Graces accommodations also are cleverly designed: there are two oceanfront suites that can be linked by a private elevator and combined to form a four-bedroom, 7,100-square-foot penthouse suite featuring rooftop terraces, living room, drawing room, dining room, study, massage room with spa bathroom, powder room and maids room.

Point Grace is situated on over 450 feet of one of the world's finest beaches.

The natural dunes, sea oats, soft white sand and multi hued waters of Princess Alexandra Park, a protected marine reserve, provide the splendid backdrop for the Caribbean's most desirable new beachfront resort community.

With its luxurious beachfront residences, intimate hotel, fine restaurant, pool side bar, lighted championship tennis, modern fitness centre, shops, services and amenities, Point Grace provides its owners with the comforts of home delivered with elegant and refined resort services.

  • The owner is Point Grace L.P.;
  • Managing Director is James Slattery and Managers are Sean and Maureen Cooper;
  • Architect, Simon Wood;
  • Interior Design, Teri DAmico Interiors & Kraton Gallery.

The heart of the hotel is Graces Cottage, a lovely replica of Graces original honeymoon cottage that serves as the guest reception area and as a charming central gathering point for guests in search of freshly baked breakfast breads or a backgammon set. Guests gather here for continental breakfast and, at any time during the day, for hot and iced cappuccino, espresso and tea. Evenings, wine and hors doeuvres are served.  Here, too is a business center; TV lounge; and library of books, CDs and DVDs.

The Cottage is next to a beautifully landscaped pool area with palm trees and chaise lounges. Guests can sip refreshments at Hutchings Bar and enjoy casual poolside lunches.

While Graces Cottage is the heart of the property, its soul lies at the beach. Grace Bays twelve miles of white sand are pristine and powdery. An offshore barrier reef ensures that the surf is always gentle. Guests have complimentary use of the resorts windsurfers, kayaks, snorkel gear and Hobie Cats. The Playhouse in the Sand is an unsupervised playscape facility for children aged four and up.  Island explorers will find bicycles available for rent at Graces Cottage.
Local operators stand ready to make arrangements for guests to experience the areas superb scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling and day sails. During their stay, Point Grace guests enjoy membership at Provo Country Club, which offers golf on a Karl Litton-designed 18-hole Championship course, as well as tennis. A private complimentary shuttle provides access to and from this facility.

The private shuttle is also available for guests who choose to dine in selected restaurants on Grace Bay. For guests who prefer to dine en-suite, private chefs are also available with 24 - 48 hours notice.

In addition to the 30 suites, Point Grace features two nearby villas, Sunnyside and Sunset, situated within a security gated and walled estate.  Located on the secluded end of Grace Bay beach on the northeastern point, the villas each feature four bedrooms and many luxurious extras, making them ideal for family gatherings or small corporate meetings.
