DETROIT, Sept. 28, 1999 - MotorCity Casino announced today
that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Talal Chahine of La
Shish. The announcement was made by MotorCity Casino Director of Food Beverage
Lane W. Maxcy.
MotorCity Casino has licensed the La Shish name and entered into a consulting agreement with Chahine. Chahine is providing consultation on design, menu selection, restaurant operation and personnel selection and training as well as hosting MotorCity culinary staff at the seven La Shish restaurants throughout metropolitan Detroit. This experience will help to indoctrinate employees to the La Shish way of preparing and serving food as well as the subtleties of the Arabic culture. Weve always sought to exceed the expectations of our patrons in each and every one of our establishments. In MotorCity Casino, we recognize the same philosophy and dedication to customer and community, explained Chahine. MotorCity Casinos La Shish, seating approximately 88 patrons, offers lunch service from 11 a.m. til 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to midnight. Signature foods including kabobs, tabbouli and hommous will be offered and like other La Shish operations, the MotorCity Casino site will offer patrons a full range of beer, wine and liquor options to add to their dining pleasure. Detroit has one of the largest Middle-Eastern emigre communities in the world and has evolved an exceptional set of restaurants to cater to it, chief among these is Talals La Shish. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in introducing Detroits non-Arabic communities to the wonderful flavors of mideastern cuisine. Regardless of your background, if you havent eaten at La Shish, you havent sampled the best, said Maxcy. The restaurant will be located in the former Continental Bakery Building attached to the main gaming building by two elevated skywalks on the MotorCity Casino campus. Adjacent attached parking accommodating 3,506 automobiles ensures easy access for casino guests and destination diners alike. Chahines addition to the MotorCity culinary team, already robust with the contributions of Matt Prentice and the talented MotorCity staff, bring us one step closer to our goal of providing not just the best fare to be found in any Detroit-area casino, but the best fare to be found in Detroit, continued Maxcy. We seek partners that share our operating philosophies and our drive to be the best, well settle for nothing less and expect the same from our partners. Talal has exhibited these qualities since opening his first restaurant 10 years ago, with each subsequent one he has distinguished himself as a restaurateur of uncommon savvy, explained Jack Barthwell, MotorCity Casinos Director of Public Relations. The temporary MotorCity Casino facility will house three other restaurants including Deli Unique and two others on which details will be announced shortly. MotorCity Casino is a $150 million dollar temporary entertainment and gaming property that will cover approximately 12 acres in and around the former Wonder Bread Bakery at Grand River Avenue and the Lodge Freeway in Detroit. Owned by Detroit Entertainment, L.L.C., a joint venture of Detroit- based Atwater Casino Group and Las Vegas-based Mandalay Resort Group, the four-story casino will have two main floors of gaming as well as a third floor non-smoking gaming area and a fourth floor high-limit area. Two live entertainment venues, four restaurants and parking for 3,500 automobiles round out the lineup to provide a fun, exciting and sophisticated entertainment experience. |
