| San Salvador (August, 1999) – San Salvador-based Grupo Real
has broken ground on a Comfort Hotel, a mile and a half from the International
Airport of San Salvador. A mid-2000 opening is planned.
A short drive from El Salvador’s sandy beaches, and 45 minutes from the capital city, the Comfort Airport Hotel is part of an extensive development comprising a tourist complex laid in a natural landscape, as well as industrial and commercial facilities which will certainly contribute to the economic growth of the area and the country. The newly renovated International Airport of El Salvador is Central America’s most important and the operations base for Grupo TACA, the region’s largest airline. Grupo AQSA will build the hotel under the supervision of Grupo Roble Internacional, a sister company of Grupo Real. The design was elaborated by Grupo Roble Internacional, and American company Morrison Seifert Murphy will be responsible for the decoration. The 100 room Comfort Airport Hotel will feature a restaurant and bar for up to 100 persons, a breakfast terrace, three meeting rooms, a business center, an outdoor swimming-pool and pavilion in lush tropical gardens, a Grupo TACA office, a souvenir shop, parking space, and free transportation to and from the airport. In-room amenities and facilities will include air-conditioning, cable TV and room service. The environment-friendly hotel will have a water treatment plant and energy conservation program. Grupo Real, hospitality division of Grupo Poma, will manage the hotel, a joint venture between Grupo Poma and Grupo Kriete, major shareholder of Grupo TACA. Grupo Real is also the Master Franchisor of Choice Hotels International for Central America, and has two franchised hotels in the region: the Quality Centro Colón in Costa Rica and Clarion Viva Suites in Guatemala. This will be the first franchised hotel in El Salvador. Choice Hotels International is the second-largest franchisor in the world with almost 5,000 hotels, inns, all-suite hotels and resorts open and under development in 36 countries, marketed under the brand names Comfort, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn and MainStay Suites. |
