Westin Uses the Chinese Philosophy Feng Shui During Planning of Spa at its Whistler, BC Resort

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 19, 1999 -  An exceptional full service spa has been thoughtfully designed to complement the services and facilities of the impressive 419-suite Westin resort development in picturesque Whistler, B.C. The upscale Westin Resort Spa is slated to open in early 2000 and its Avello Spa will be a highlight for resort guests on a year - round basis. The Avello Spa, a refuge for the body and soul, features 8,000 square feet of pampered spa treatment services, health club facilities on two-levels, and stunning views of
mountain vistas (Avello, is the Latin word for mountain).

Feng shui is a Chinese philosophy about the relationship between humans and their environment. It is about how everything in the universe is connected and directly affects your well being. In reference to the spa, the goal was to find the optimum feng shui, by studying the mountain surroundings, measuring and placing the spa on the architectural plan for ideal exposures and planning the color scheme and decorations so as to ensure complete harmony.

The Avello Spa is dedicated to the ultimate spa experience for both women and men. Thirty individual treatment areas on one level offer every beauty and treatment service imaginable. Among the offerings are therapeutic Bouvier tubs imported from France and Vichy showers, hot rock therapy and Parafango Masks, where volcanic mud is mixed with paraffin wax, brushed over the body, to trap heat and draw out toxins, leaving the skin silky smooth. Many other facial, body and beauty treatments round out the full service offerings, including many services being provided in the privacy of the guest suites.

The lower floor of the spa is dedicated to a state-of-the-art gym, and extensive health club with pools. Facilities and services on this floor include Pilates studio with personal Pilates classes, mens and womens eucalyptus steam rooms, saunas, indoor and outdoor whirlpools, indoor/outdoor lap pool, Precor treadmills, LifeCycles, Concept II Rowers, StairMasters and Keiser Air Pump 250 resistance machines. FitforeGolf assessments, personal training, physical therapy consultations are some of the many programs that will be offered.
