CHICAGO, Aug. 2, 1999 - A strong and positive working environment
for hotel employees is essential to the success of a Chicago hotel, explained
newly appointed Westin Michigan Avenue Hotel General Manager Michael Feigenbaum.
It doesn�t replace the priority of providing good guest services but the two go hand in hand, Feigenbaum said. A veteran hotel industry manager, Feigenbaum said that Chicago�s hotel industry is �healthy.� He said that in a healthy industry environment, it�s natural for hotels to focus on improving the �service side� of their business. �The service side of the industry is very important, obviously. Chicago has a very healthy and strong hotel industry and it reflects positively on our city,� said Feigenbaum, who is married and has three children. �And, when you have a healthy industry like ours, with first class accommodations like those at Westin Michigan Avenue, we can focus on service. But we can�t be successful unless we also focus on providing a healthy working environment to our employees.� Feigenbaum, who previously worked for three years as general manager of the Arlington Park Hilton Hotel, said that Westin Michigan Avenue, 909 North Michigan Ave., places a high priority on providing employees with a satisfying working environment. �I may be the general manager, but it�s the employee who is the front line contact with guests.
