LOS ANGELES, June 25, 1999 - Mark S. Liberman, vice
president North America�Western Region for United Airlines, has been elected
Chairman of the 1999-2000 Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Convention
Visitors Bureau. As Chairman, Mr. Liberman will direct and oversee a board
of prominent travel industry and local business leaders who govern the
operations of the Bureau.
A strong supporter of Downtown�s revitalization, Liberman currently
serves on the Board of Directors for both the Los Angeles Area Chamber
of Commerce and the Los Angeles Sports Entertainment Commission.
�Mark has been instrumental in directing the work that has established
Los Angeles as a hub for United Airlines.
His acknowledged experience and achievement within the national and
international travel community provide Mark with extraordinary credentials
for Bureau leadership,� said George D. Kirkland, LACVB President.
Mr. Liberman has served in a variety of positions throughout his thirty-year
career with United Airlines. He previously served as general manager at
the San Francisco International Airport, and most recently, as vice president�Latin
America Division, a division that he created and established in 1992.A
native of New York, Mr. Liberman earned a bachelor�s degree in political
science from Kent State University. He resides in Manhattan Beach with
his wife.
The
Los Angeles Convention Visitors Bureau is a private, not-for-profit business
association. Although it is not part of the city government of Los Angeles,
it is recognized as the city�s official visitor promotional arm. The Bureau�s
mission is to enhance the economic fabric of the community through the
marketing of Los Angeles as a travel destination and through the sales
of its convention facilities. |
