VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 30, 1999 - Intrawest
(NYSE: IDR; TSE: ITW) announced today that its four-diamond hotel, Westin
Resort Tremblant, sold out in only 12 hours for a total of Cdn$31.7 million.
Westin Resort Tremblant mountain homes were sold at an average price of
Cdn$460 per square foot, the highest price achieved in this region and
similar to prices obtained at world-class resorts such as Whistler/Blackcomb.
The four-diamond Westin Resort Tremblant will be developed and managed
by Intrawest, with Westin providing sales and marketing support through
a franchise agreement. Construction of the project is expected to complete
in June 2000.
"A hotel of this size and calibre can accommodate approximately 90,000
annual visits to the resort and further enhance Tremblant's position as
the number one resort in the east," said Daniel Jarvis, executive vice
president and chief financial officer.
This project follows Intrawest's successful sale of 51 mountain homes
at its Panorama resort on March 2. The 51 homes were sold for over Cdn$10
million in five hours. On February 20, the fourth building in the heart
of the new village at Copper sold out in less than two hours. This was
on the heels of the sale of 140 mountain homes at Copper in three buildings
two weeks earlier which sold out in just seven hours. The sell-out of the
four buildings at Copper, which will comprise the core of the village,
generated more than Cdn$117 million in sales.
"The success of these launches will have a major impact on the growth
of our resort operations in the coming years," said Jarvis. "This operations
impact is at the heart of our entire strategy. We don't just build real
estate, we create villages, which totally changes the way a resort works.
This expertise is recognized by our guests and is evident in the success
of our real estate launches."

(scheduled to open Jan. 2000).
This announcement brings the total investment by Intrawest
at the Upper-Laurentian resort to $650 million since 1992. "The interest
shown toward resort mountain homes has reached a new summit because of
the baby boomer's demand for a 'total vacation experience' and their desire
