Marriott Hotel in Rogers, Arkansas

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., and ROGERS, Ark. July 17, 2003 Mr. John Q. Hammons today announced he will build a $30 million, 250-room, full-service Marriott hotel and a 100,000-square-foot convention center in Northwest Arkansas booming Pinnacle Hills business development.  The rapidly growing Pinnacle Hills business development is situated in the western portion of Rogers and offers a mix of business, retail and residential development.  The nine-story Marriott of Northwest Arkansas and the convention center will be owned by Mr. Hammons and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. The new Marriott will be Mr. Hammons sixth hotel to be built in Arkansas and will complement the companys portfolio of almost 60 hotels.  Construction of the hotel and convention center is scheduled to begin in 2004, followed by a grand opening in the second quarter of 2006.  As Arkansas first full-service Marriott, the hotel will connect to the new convention center via a climate-controlled sky bridge, as will Mr. Hammons Embassy Suites Hotel? of Northwest Arkansas, which opened in May 2003.

Northwest Arkansas is comprised of cities located in Benton and Washington counties, including Fayetteville, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers and Bentonville.  A unique case study for strategic economic development, the region has a combined population of 400,000 people and a blue chip roster of corporate residents.

I like to call Northwest Arkansas the 51st state due to the phenomenal development and economic growth in this region, said Mr. John Q. Hammons, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc.  My plans to build the convention center and Arkansas first full-service Marriott hotel in Pinnacle Hills reinforces my commitment to building luxury properties in areas of strategic growth.

Ideal Location

Convenient access to the new 100,000-square-foot convention center and the propertys more than 10,000 square feet of functional meeting space will make the Marriott of Northwest Arkansas ideal for a variety of events from lavish weddings and celebrations to corporate meetings and conferences.  The hotels staff will be able to respond to a groups specialized needs and provide a full-range of event planning assistance and catering.

Located at Interstate 540 and Pinnacle Hills Parkway, Mr. Hammons new Marriott of Northwest Arkansas and the convention center will be situated across the highway from a future one-million-square-foot, 400-acre development that will house the Pinnacle Hills Promenade retail center, a new medical center, a medical professional building, restaurants, and high-end multi-family residential communities.  The Marriott of Northwest Arkansas also will be within close proximity to major recreational destinations such as Beaver Lake, Devils Den and 20 area golf courses, contributing to the lure as a prime tourist destination.

Northwest Arkansas is home to several significant business destinations, including the world headquarters of Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, J.B.
