George White, who had retired as President and General Manager of the
Beverly Wilshire in 1988 after thirty-nine years with the hotel, has died
in Los Angeles. Usually working in the shadow of the Beverly Wilshire�s
flamboyant owner Hernando Courtright, White was the steward of the hotel�s
reputation as one of the finest on the West Coast.
Marriott International has promoted William Shaw to Vice Chairman of
the company. He was most recently the company�s President and Chief Operating
Officer.
Arne Sorenson takes over from William Shaw as President and Chief Operating
Officer of Marriott International. He was most recently the Executive Vice
President, Chief Financial Officer, and President, Continental European
Lodging. Carl Berquist takes over from Sorenson as Marriott�s new Chief
Financial Officer.
Las Vegas Sands has made Michael Leven its President and Chief Operating
Officer, replacing William Weidner. Leven was formerly President and Chief
Executive Officer of US Franchise Systems, and had previously served in
leadership roles for Holiday Inn Worldwide, Days Inn of America, and Americana
Hotels.
Paul Nash has transferred to the St. Regis New York as General Manager,
taking over from Scott Geraghty who left in December to the Ritz-Carlton
Central Park South. Nash was most recently the General Manager of the St.
Regis Houston. He had previously held management positions with the Palace
Hotel in San Francisco and the St. Regis Shanghai.
Vince Parrotta has transferred as General Manager to the Four Seasons
Scottsdale, taking over from Tom Kelly who retires after thirty years with
the company. Parrotta comes from his most recent position as General Manager
the Four Seasons Jackson Hole, where he had been for the last two years.
He joined the company in 1999 at the Four Seasons Chicago as Director of
Rooms under Hans Willimann before moving up in leadership roles at the
Four Seasons Las Vegas and the Four Seasons Aviara.
Nico Hallwass has been appointed General Manager of the Thompson Beverly
Hills, taking over from Michael Carsch, who has left the company. Hallwass
was previously based in New York, as Corporate Rooms Division Manager for
Thompson Hotels.
The W South Beach has named Eduardo Fernandez General Manager. Fernandez
was most recently the Senior Director of Operations � New Build & Transitions,
for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. He had previously served as General
Manager of the Sheraton Suites Wilmington and Hotel Manager at the Sheraton
Bal Harbour.
Keri Robinson has relocated to San Diego, keeping her title as Area
Managing Director for Starwood Hotels & Resorts while assuming her
new responsibilities as General Manager for the Sheraton San Diego Hotel
& Marina. A Cornell graduate, Robinson was most recently overseeing
the Sheraton Seattle as General Manager. She had previously served as General
Manager of the Westin Pasadena and the Sheraton Cerritos.
The Westin New York at Times Square has promoted Gerard Widder to the
role of General Manager. He joined the hotel in pre-opening in 2002 as
Director of Finance and was most recently serving as Hotel Manager. He
had previously served in various finance roles for the Waldorf=Astoria
and the Regency.
Pierre Louis Renou has joined the Sofitel Lafayette Square in Washington,
DC as General Manager. He takes over from Denis Dupart who has moved to
the Sofitel St. James London. Renou was most recently the Operations Manager
at the Sofitel Los Angeles after serving himself at the Sofitel St. James
London as Hotel Manager.
The Emerson Resort & Spa has promoted Tracy Lynch to General Manager.
She joined the resort in 1998 in retail for the property�s Country Store,
serving most recently as Sales Director.
Raymond Vermolen has been named General Manager of the InterContinental
Houston. He was most recently the General Manager of the InterContinental
Los Angeles Century City. He had previously served as Hotel Manager at
the InterContinental The Barclay New York and had overseen food and beverage
operations at the InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut, the InterContinental
Alexandria and the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens.
The Whiteface Lodge Resort Spa has appointed Phil Anderson General Manager.
Most recently, Anderson served as General Manager of the Georgian Terrace
Hotel in Atlanta for four years. He had previously served in sales and
marketing roles for Lodgian and the PGA National Resort & Spa, both
in Florida.
James McCullough has been named Vice President and General Manager of
the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside. He was most recently the
General Manager for La Casa del Zorro Desert Resort in Borrego Springs.
Previously, he spent five years with the Westward Look Resort in Tucson,
and served as Executive Chef at several properties in Arizona and Colorado.
Dan Nadeau has been named General Manager of the Washington Marriott
Wardman Park. He has been with Marriott for over thirty years and previously

at the Domain scheduled to open spring 2010. He had previously been with
Marriott International for over twenty-one years, most recently as Texas-Market

The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa slated to
open March 2010, has named Arthur Coulombe General Manager. He was most
recently the Area General Manager of the San Antonio Marriott Hotels and
has spent twenty-five years with Marriott International.
Hunter Hotels in Atlanta has appointed John Sturgess Managing Director.
Previously, Sturgess was Corporate Senior Vice President of Development
for Carlson Hotels Worldwide and had held various roles with Prime Hospitality,
Doubletree Hotels and Richfield Hospitality.
Sergio Ortiz has been appointed Managing Director of the St. Anthony
Hotel in San Antonio. He had previously served as General Manager at sister
property the Driskill in Austin and Managing Director at the Lancaster
in Houston in addition to President at Orion Hotels.
Von de Luna has joined Kimpton�s Hotel Monaco Denver as General Manager.
He was most recently at Kimpton�s Hotel Burnham in Chicago as General Manager.

Marriott International has also promoted Carl Berquist to Executive
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He will retain his role as

Andrew Zephirin has been named General Manager of both the House and
Tamarind Cove in Barbados. Previously, he had served as General Manager

The Renaissance Orlando Hotel at SeaWorld has named Bob Walsh General
Manager. Walsh was most recently the General Manager of the Renaissance

Jonathan Reynolds has worked with CampbellGray Hotels for over nine
years, now becoming the Resort Manager at Carlisle Bay in Antigua. Previously,
he was the Hotel Manager at the Goodwood Park Hotel in West Sussex
Sage Hospitality has selected Robert Cartwright to be the new General
Manager of Chicago�s Blackstone, a Renaissance Hotel. Most recently, Cartwright
served as General Manager of the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
At the Blackstone, he takes over from opening General Manager Shakir Hussain.
Antonio Alvarez returns to Buenos Aires to take over from Christophe
Lorvo as General Manager for the Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt. He had previously
served as Director of Operations at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires before
taking on his most recent role as General Manager of the Park Hyatt Mendoza.
Daniel Dolatre moves to Argentina to take over as General Manager at
the Park Hyatt Mendoza. He was most recently the General Manager of the
Hyatt Regency Acapulco, after joining the resort as Executive Assistant
Manager, Food and Beverage. He had previously served as Director of Food
and Beverage at the Mandarin Oriental Manila.
Scott Blakeslee has moved to the Palms Place Hotel in the Palms Las
Vegas as Vice President and Assistant General Manager. He was most recently
the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Harmon Hotel, Spa &
Residences, also in Las Vegas. Blakeslee previously served in various sales
and marketing management positions for the St. Regis Resort Monarch Beach,
the Carmel Valley Ranch, and the Venetian.
Laurent Fraticelli is moving to New York to take over from Mark Somen
at Soho House as Director of Operations USA. He was most recently with
Hospitality by Palisades as Executive Vice President. Fraticelli also served
five years with HotelsAB as General Manager for the Standard Miami, the
Standard Downtown Los Angeles, and the Standard Hollywood.
Tom Scaramellino has been appointed Director of Operations at the US
Grant in San Diego. Most recently, he served as Director of Food and Beverage
for the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa. At the US Grant, he replaces
Victor Barothy-Langer, who has left the company.
Lance Thompson has taken on the role of Director of Resort Operations
for Timbers Resorts. He was most recently the Vice President of Operations
for PlumpJack. He had previously served in leadership roles with Calistoga

The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa has appointed Michael Lucero Director
of Operations. He was most recently serving as General Manager and Regional

Hotels, based in San Diego, adding to her current position as Controller

Lorraine McInnes has transferred as Director of Finance to the Four

Oliver Beckert has moved to the Four Seasons Vancouver as Executive
Chef. For the past four years, he had been the Executive Chef at the Four
Seasons Lanai. He had previously served at the Four Seasons Miami as Executive
Sous Chef.
Frederick Bisaillon has rejoined the White Elephant on Nantucket as
Executive Chef. He was previously a Senior Chef de Partie for the resort,
before taking on culinary roles at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla and the
Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda. He was most recently with Cable Beach
Resorts in Nassau as Executive Chef.
Laurent Méchin has joined the St. Julian Hotel and Spa in Boulder
as Executive Chef. He was most recently at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole
as Executive Sous Chef, after serving as Senior Sous Chef at the Four Seasons
Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo. He had previously held various culinary
positions at the former Four Seasons Newport Beach, and the former Sutton
Place, also in Newport Beach.
Peter Csikos has been appointed Executive Chef for the Heldrich Hotel
& Spa. Csikos was previously both Director of Food and Beverage and
Executive Chef at the Warwick in New York. In addition, he had served as
Executive Chef at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake and the Sheraton Crossroads
Mahwah, both in New Jersey.
Brad Manchester has joined the Wit in Chicago as Executive Chef. He
was most recently in the same position at the Hotel Zaza in Dallas.
Aaron Neeley steps in for Manchester to take over as Executive Chef
at the Hotel Zaza Dallas. He was most recently the Executive Sous Chef
for the property.
In Miami, Greg Lopez has been named Executive Chef of the Hotel Victor's
Vix restaurant. He was most recently with the Highlands Inn in Carmel and
had previously served in various culinary positions for the Resort at Squaw
Creek, Auberge du Soleil and Emandal - A Farm on a River in Mendocino County.
Francisco Aceves has been appointed Executive Chef at the Stonewall
Resort in West Virginia. He was most recently the Banquet Chef for La Posada
de Santa Fe Resort & Spa.
Paul Wade has joined the Stone House in Rhode Island as Executive Chef.
He was most recently in the same position at the now shuttered Columbia
Gorge Hotel in Oregon. He had previously served as Executive Chef at the
Inn at Palmetto Bluffs, the Little Nell and the Peaks Resort.
The Windsor Court New Orleans has appointed Drew Dzejak Executive Chef.
He was most recently with sister property Charleston Place in South Carolina
as Chef de Cuisine.
The Westin St. Maarten has appointed John Bakker Executive Chef. He
had previously served in culinary positions with the Westin Casuarina Grand
Cayman, and the White Barn Inn.
La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad has appointed Gina Rodriguez Chef
de Cuisine of the BlueFire Grill. Rodriguez comes from the Ventana Room
at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson.
Patrick Lassaque has move to the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne as Executive
Pastry Chef. He was most recently in the same position for the Ritz-Carlton
San Juan. He had previously overseen the pastry department for the Mandarin
Oriental Miami, the Westin Diplomat Resort and the Loews Miami.
Ed Curry has moved up to St. Helena joining Hall Wines as Vice President
of Consumer Operations and Marketing. He was most recently the Director
of Sales and Marketing at the (former) Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel now
run by Langham. He had previously served as Director of Sales and Marketing
for the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey.
Jason Alexander has joined Meteor Vineyard as General Manager. He had
been the Vice President of Wine Acquisitions of Vintrust in San Francisco
since 2007. He was for many years the Sommelier and Wine Director at Restaurant
Gary Danko in San Francisco and Cyrus Restaurant in Healdsburg.
David Bodette has joined the Fairfax at Embassy Row in Washington, DC
as Assistant General Manager. He was most recently at the Ritz-Carlton
Sarasota as Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage. He had previously
overseen food and beverage at the (former) Ritz-Carlton Boston, the Langham
Boston and Auberge du Soleil.
The Four Seasons Westlake has promoted Ronald Nagy to Director of Rooms.
He joined the resort in pre-opening in 2006 as Front Office Manager then
moved into his most recent role as Assistant Director of Rooms. He had
previously served in various rooms positions for the Four Seasons Hualalai
and the Four Seasons Hampshire.
Sharon Ogawa has joined the Dakota Mountain Lodge & Golden Door
Spa as Spa Director. She most recently opened the Golden Door Spa at the
Naples Grand Resort and Club and Soothe Spa at Rose Hall Resort and Spa
in Jamaica.
Melanie Silver has joined the Salish Lodge and Spa as Spa Director.
She was most recently overseeing the spa for the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas.
