The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:
Dan Plummer from Two International Group is working closely with the management team at Newmarket International, Inc. to design an environmentally sustainable building both inside and out. This involves using environmentally sustainable construction materials, as well as landscaping, parking, office equipment, furniture and design. “It is critical for our company to be environmentally aware and take responsibility for the impact we have on our local community and across the world. The new building is one of the major steps we are taking in 2008. We have also put a committee in place to assess our current processes and to make changes that decrease our impact on the environment today,” said Sean O’Neill, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Newmarket International, Inc. “We couldn’t be more pleased with Two International Group’s willingness to break new ground with us on this first LEED-certified commercial building in Portsmouth.” About Newmarket International
