The Master Plan Vision of Developer Doug Manchester
Taking Form at The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa

.

July 20, 2005 - Manchester Grand Resorts is pleased to announce that development plans have gone from drawing board to reality at The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa, the new hotel and ownership villas being built on a 24-acre pad nestled among the rolling fairways and manicured greens of The Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, California. The lush 380-acre property which winds through the Penasquitos Canyon Preserve's scenic coastal canyons has undergone a metamorphosis since the April media conference announcing the new name of the golf club and sketching the outline of what is to become a world-class golf and luxury travel destination.

Currently under construction, the 50,000 square foot clubhouse, more than triple the size of the original will be the first new building completed with an opening scheduled for June 2006. The clubhouse will offer spacious and elegantly-appointed men's and women's locker rooms, numerous patios, a pro shop, and exclusive, members-only areas for lounging and relaxation. Most importantly, the clubhouse will house The Grand Del Mar's unique signature restaurant.

The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa is the master plan vision of Papa Doug Manchester, developer and owner of resort, hotel and commercial properties which include the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina and the Whitetail Club in McCall, Idaho. The Grand Del Mar is located at the center of the La Jolla-Del Mar-Rancho Santa Fe geographic triangle, just minutes from the bustling metropolis of San Diego, one of America's most desirable tourist destinations. While careful planning and attention have been given to incorporating an abundance of luxury-lifestyle amenities, the resort's coastal setting and year-round, temperate climate are amenities that only nature can provide.

The buildings at The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa will honor the architectural touches of visionaries from the early 1900's including Addison Mizner (1872-1933), whose sun-washed, regional Mediterranean style launched the "Florida Renaissance" and defined the resort communities of Palm Beach and Boca Raton, Florida. The style and appeal are inspired by the decorative arts of Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa will be a stellar destination for domestic and international travelers looking for the finest in luxury. The new 261-room resort hotel will offer 5-star accommodations including 19 suites, an 18-hole Tom Fazio Golf Course, a full-service luxurious Spa and 39 ownership Villas. Inside the hotel, you'll find a masterpiece restaurant, an extraordinary cafe, an engaging and friendly cocktail lounge, libraries, wine rooms, shops, patios, lounges, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and gathering places, all artfully appointed and design-intensive. Four outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi will provide open-air relaxation after a challenging round of golf, biking, hiking, horseback riding or a vigorous workout on one of the two pro-style tennis courts.

The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa will also offer 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which includes a 10,000 square foot Grand Ballroom. Amidst the fine art, antiques and beautifully handcrafted details of this landmark property you will find a special, uncommon touch: a private chapel. All of these distinctive amenities make the resort the ideal location for a corporate meeting, incentive trip or that very special social function.

The Resort's full-service spa and fitness center will offer therapeutic treatments to soothe mind, body and spirit.  This exclusive facility will include a full-service salon, a lap pool, outdoor spa and relaxation area, a fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment and free weights, yoga and aerobics studios and a spa boutique. In addition, there will be 12 massage rooms, facial treatment rooms, hydrotherapy rooms and specialty treatment and relaxation rooms, with shower, steam, and sauna areas, and a plunge pool.

The Grand Del Mar is located approximately 20 miles north of the San Diego International Airport, with close proximity to San Diego landmarks such as The Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, Old Town, The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland, Prospect Street in La Jolla, The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and miles of Southern California's finest beaches. Shopping and fine dining in Del Mar, La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe are just a short distance away and not to be missed. The Grand Del Mar Resort and Spa is accessible via the Carmel Country exit off of the 56, which connects to the Interstate 5 and 15 Freeways.

Hotel, Spa and Villa construction is scheduled for completion in January 2007.
