| Overland Park, Kan. � May 16, 2005 � True North Hotel Group, L.L.C.
(TNHG), a national hotel development and management company based here,
announced seven new projects in the development pipeline just days after
opening the 20,000 square-foot Devens Conference Center in Devens, Mass.
The Center is adjacent to TNHG�s 121-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott
that opened in April.
Lew Wiens, president, said that the company�s seven future projects include six Marriott-branded hotels � three Residence Inns and one each for Courtyard, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites � and a Hilton Garden Inn. A 90-room Hampton Inn & Suites, under construction, will open in Yuma, Ariz., in September. The two Devens projects are part of a 4,400-acre mixed-use community in Central Massachusetts that is the former site of the Fort Devens Army Base. The site, a project of MassDevelopment � the economic development arm of the State of Massachusetts � is an award-winning national model for military base reuse that also houses restaurants, office buildings and other service businesses. The hotel and conference center are owned and managed by True North Hotel Group and were co-developed with Robert Walker of Devens Development. L.L.C. �With 20 years and 50 hotels under our belt, it�s still very exciting to come across such unique projects,� said Wiens. He explained that the company last October opened a new four-story, 128-suites Residence Inn by Marriott in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on a six-acre parcel shared with Spackenkill Plaza, a new retail and restaurant strip located at the entrance of an IBM plant. True North Hotel Group owns or manages more than 1,200 hotel rooms in seven states under the Marriott, Hilton, Cendant and Choice brands. |
