VILLAHERMOSA, Mexico - Jan. 25, 2005 -- Jorge Gutierrez has been named general manager of the Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center, a new 220-room property currently under construction that is scheduled to open in April 2005. Gutierrez, whose hospitality career spans more than 20 years, will come to the Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center from the Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort, where he has served as hotel manager since July 2003.

Gutierrez started his career in the hospitality industry in 1982 at the El Presidente Zona Rosa hotel in Mexico City as night manager. He was promoted to front desk assistant manager at the El Presidente Cancun, and then worked at the Hyatt Regency Cancun for 10 years, serving as concierge, chief concierge, front desk manager and rooms division manager. At the Hilton Cancun, he was promoted to resident manager, general manager and, in 2003, to hotel manager.

A native of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, Gutierrez received his bachelor's degree in tourism from Universidad Hispano Mexicana - Mexico City.

The Hilton Villahermosa and Conference Center is located adjacent to the Villahermosa International Airport and just four miles from downtown Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco. The hotel will serve business travelers visiting Villahermosa's growing oil industrial complexes and natural gas facilities, and will be the ideal starting point for visitors to the Mayan Trail, ruins of Palenque and other nearby historical and archaeological sites of the Mayan and Olmecan cultures. The hotel will offer the largest and most technologically advanced meeting space in Villahermosa, including a 7,200 square foot ballroom and 22,000 square feet of total meeting space. The hotel will also feature a full-service restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a fitness center and comprehensive spa facilities.
