Expansion of the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport

.

HERNDON, VA - August 2, 2004 - Land is being cleared and heavy equipment will soon begin moving dirt on the site of the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel, signaling the commencement of construction on a major expansion of the 18-year old property.

Adding 155 new guestrooms to the current 301 state-of-the-art rooms for a total of 456, the distinctive hotel located near Washington Dulles International Airport will undergo a $31 million expansion designed to make it the premier Dulles destination for business and leisure travelers alike.  What's more, an additional 12,000 square foot conference and meeting center will boost the hotel's meeting space to more than 40,000 square feet, allowing the property to host business meetings and groups of 10 to 650.

experienced a major economic rebound over the past 12 months, and we have felt the positive effects of this upturn at our hotel," stated Greg Langweg, General Manager of the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel.

"Supremely situated with the National Air and Space Museum's new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center immediately to the south, our newly expanded property will be ideally positioned to service the needs of our growing customer base."

Purchased by the Stanford Hotels Corporation in 1996, the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel has consistently been a top performer within its category.  The property was recently recognized by Hilton as being in its Top 5 airport hotels in the US, and consistently ranks among the most successful properties in the Stanford Hotels family according to occupancy and revenue benchmarks.

"Over the years Stanford Hotels has owned the Hilton here in the Dulles market, we have grown increasingly impressed with the future opportunities of this hotel," stated Clyde Guinn, Senior Vice President of Operations for Stanford Hotels Corporation.  "As such, Stanford is committing significant economic resources to provide more accommodations for our customers, greater opportunities for our employees and additional jobs in the community."

The project will be completed in two phases by HITT Contracting Inc, of Fairfax, VA.  Construction is scheduled for completion in Fall, 2005.
