Doubletree Hotel Houston-Post Oak an Upgraded New Name, Hilton Houston Post Oak |
.
HOUSTON - Aug. 30, 2004 -- Hilton Hotels Corporation (NYSE:HLT) today
announced that the Doubletree Hotel Houston-Post Oak, located in the heart
of the Uptown Houston business district, will be rebranded and renamed
the Hilton Houston Post Oak after the completion of a $13 million hotel-wide
renovation. The modernization project will begin immediately and is anticipated
to be concluded in the first quarter of 2005.
"The 300 team members at our hotel are very proud of their Doubletree history and are truly looking forward to celebrating their new Hilton name," said John Binick, hotel general manager. "Our name may be changing but the faces remain the same, which means that the soon-to-be Hilton Houston-Post Oak will be well positioned to continue its dedicated and longstanding tradition of fine service to the Houston community." The hotel has more than 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and 448 guestrooms including several one bedroom suites, two bedroom suites, junior suites and two 3,000 sq. ft. presidential suites. All rooms have balconies with views of Houston's impressive skyline. When the renovation is completed, the atmosphere at the new Hilton Houston-Post Oak will reflect a more contemporary style that mirrors the original atmosphere of the I.M. Pei-designed hotel. The atrium lobby will be transformed with new seating groups, a new front desk, the addition of a custom designed 850-square-foot area rug, a suspended ring chandelier that will hang nearly seven stories and a significant collection of contemporary art pieces. Guest rooms will be completely renovated and also will take on a more contemporary feel with the inclusion of sleek, new mahogany furnishings; ergonomic, leather desk chairs, updated bathrooms and a vibrant blue and yellow color scheme. Guestroom corridors will be brightened with new lighting, textured wall treatments and art that is both modern and reflective of Houston. A major refurbishment of the existing fitness center, the addition of a new executive lounge and the installation of high speed internet access in all guest rooms round out the other major hotel improvements being made.
