Michael D. Hirsch and  William Fitzgerald Named
Area Vice President, South Central for
Hilton Hotels Corporation

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., May 12, 2004 -- Michael D. Hirsch, CHA, has been named area vice president, South Central for Hilton Hotels Corporation and William Fitzgerald, CHA, has been named area vice president/general manager of the Philadelphia area for Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Michael D. Hirsch most recently served as general manager of the Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale.  He reports to Ted Ratcliff, senior vice president, Hilton/Doubletree Operations Northeast and has relocated to Arlington, Virginia.

In his new position, Hirsch is responsible for the operation of the following hotels: Doubletree Hotel Crystal City, Embassy Suites Crystal City, Doubletree Hotel Tyson's Corner, Doubletree Hotel Rockville, Club Hotel by Doubletree Club Largo, Doubletree Guest Suites Raleigh-Durham, Doubletree Guest Suites Washington DC, Hilton East Brunswick, Doubletree Hotel Somerset, Doubletree Charlotte/Uptown, Doubletree Guest Suites Charlotte/South Park and the new Hilton Baltimore development.

A 23-year hospitality veteran, Hirsch began his career with Guest Quarters Suite Hotels in the Washington, DC area where he spent seven years in executive positions.  He joined Hilton in 1988 as general manager of the Doubletree Guest Suites in Houston, Texas and over the next 14 years, held the same position at the Doubletree Guest Suites Santa Monica, Doubletree Guest Suites New York and his most recent post, the Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale.

A native of New York, Hirsch received a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University.   

Hirsch has been an active participant in the hotel industry serving in a variety of organizations. He currently serves as the chairman of the Los Angeles Area Hotel and Lodging Association and also co-chairs the hotel subcommittee for LA Now, Inc., the marketing subsidiary of LA, Inc. (formerly Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau). The Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association has awarded him the prestigious Certified Hotel Administrator designation.   During his 6-year stint in Glendale, he spearheaded efforts to establish endowed scholarships at the Collins School of Hospitality at Cal Poly Pomona and at the Glendale Community College for their hospitality program.   Hirsch also played an active role locally, in the Glendale community. He recently served as president of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce in June 2003, where he led an organization of 1,100 members.  The Glendale Chamber named him as their CEO of the Year for 2003.  He is also a member of the Glendale Adventist Medical Center Foundation board and Retinoblastoma International.

A native of Pennsylvania, William Fitzgerald received a bachelor of science degree in hotel and restaurant management from East Stroudsburg University.  He currently sits on the board and serves as an executive committee member on the Philadelphia Convention and Visitor's Bureau.  He is also 1st vice president of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association Board and a Board Member of the Philadelphia Sports Congress.

Fitzgerald will maintain responsibility as general manager of the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia.  He reports to Ted Ratcliff, senior vice president, Hilton/Doubletree Operations Northeast.

In his new position, Fitzgerald is responsible for the operation of the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia, the Hilton Inn at Penn, the Doubletree Guest Suites Plymouth Meeting and the Doubletree Hotel Wilmington. 

A 20-year hospitality veteran, Fitzgerald began his career in food and beverage management. Over the last 15 years, Fitzgerald has served as general manager of the Holiday Inn Select, Bucks County; Doubletree Guest Suites Valley Forge in the Greater Philadelphia area and the Doubletree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center, Somerset, New Jersey.
