| SILVER SPRING, Md. (May 4, 2004) � Choice Hotels International, Inc.
(NYSE:CHH) today announced that its board of directors has promoted and
elected Joseph M. Squeri to the position of executive vice president and
chief financial officer.
Squeri, 38, previously had been senior vice president, development, and chief financial officer. �Joe has a strong track record of performance in his seven years with Choice, moving steadily into positions of higher responsibility while helping to move the company forward,� said Charles A. Ledsinger, Jr., president and chief executive officer. �We rely greatly on his keen strategic insight, business judgment and sound leadership. �He has reshaped our financial and business strategy functions and taken our franchise development performance to new heights,� he added. �The recent additional responsibility for brands and product development will provide greater growth opportunities for the company.� Squeri is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He joined the company in February 1997 and has been the chief financial officer since June 1999. He assumed responsibility for franchise sales and development in April 2002 and responsibility for brands and product development in 2004. Prior to joining Choice, Squeri was with The Carlyle Group, a leading private investment firm in Washington, D.C.
