Brian Young has been promoted to Vice President of Operations by Rosewood
Hotels and Resorts. He was previously their General Manager at Caneel Bay
for four years. Prior to that, Young was the General Manager at the Metropolitan
in Vancouver. A well-known hotelier in the Caribbean, he also was the General
Manager at Cotton House, the Resident Manager at the Four Seasons Nevis
and the Manager at Cap Juluca.
Kerman Beriker is the new General Manager at the Inn at Rancho Santa
Fe. He was recently in a similar position at Santa Barbara�s El Encanto.
At Rancho Santa Fe, Beriker takes over from Tobias Franklin. Beriker�s
past also includes the position of General Manager at the Beverly Hills
Hotel.
James St. John III has been named President of ResidenSea. Most recently
at Hospitality America, he oversaw development and consulting services
for hotels, resorts, and private clubs. He also has served in senior executive
roles at the Jupiter Island Club and the Virgin Grand Beach Resort.
Mark Ferland has been appointed General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton
Atlanta. He was the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Ritz-Carlton
Hotels for the past six years. Ferland has been with the company for nineteen
years.
Dani Stern has been appointed General Manager at Denver�s Westin Tabor
Center. Most recently, Stern served as Director of Operations at the Westin
Crown Center in Kansas City. In Denver, Stern replaces John Everett, who
was recently named General Manager of the Westin Galleria in Dallas.
Michael Hirsch has been named Area Vice President, South Central, for
Hilton Hotels Corporation. Hirsch most recently served as General Manager
of the Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale.
William Fitzgerald has been promoted to the position of Area Vice President/General
Manager - Philadelphia area for Hilton Hotels Corporation. He will concurrently
remain the General Manager of the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia.
Ben Fusco has been named Area Vice President, Hilton Resorts - Arizona.
He most recently served as Area Vice President - Operations, South Central
Region, where he oversaw the daily operations of fifteen hotels.
Brian Larson has been named General Manager at the Cathedral Hill Hotel,
an affiliate of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. He was previously the General
Manager at the Hilton Phoenix Airport.
Richard Behr has been named General Manager of Merv Griffin�s Hilton
Scottsdale Resort and Villas. He replaces Shaun Robinson who is the new
General Manager at the Doubletree San Diego Del Mar. Behr was previously
the Resort Manager at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix for the
last four years.
Kathy Faulk has been appointed General Manager at the Richardson Hotel
in Dallas, previously the Omni Richardson Hotel, now managed by Destination
Hotels and Resorts. Most recently, she led the management of the Radisson
North Dallas.
Robert Trotter has been appointed General Manager at the JW Marriott
Denver at Cherry Creek, scheduled to open next month. Trotter recently
served as General Manager at the Hotel Monaco in Denver. Prior to joining
the Monaco, Trotter worked in the same capacity at the Sheraton Tacoma
Hotel.
William Brendel has been appointed General Manager at the Emily Morgan
Hotel in San Antonio. He was previously with Loews Hotels for fourteen
years, most recently as the General Manager of the Loews Denver.
Mara Bouvier has been appointed General Manager at the posh upcoming
Palms Resort and Spa in Turks and Caicos. She joins from the Hotels of
Baltimore International College where her title was General Manager of
Hotels. Bouvier has strong experience in the Caribbean where she was the
General Manager of Strawberry Hill for Island Outpost in Jamaica. Bouvier
also spent four years at Jumby Bay in the mid nineties.
Ulrich Krauer has joined Mankarios Associates as Consultant. Most recently,
he was the General Manager at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, a position
he held for two years. He also worked as Managing Director at the Sonoma
Mission Inn. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions with Rosewood
Hotels and Resorts for thirteen years.
Michel Neutelings has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Caicos
Resorts, Ltd, the developers of what will be Amanresorts � first Caribbean
property on the island of Providenciales. Opening is slated for November
2005. Neutelings was most recently the General Manager at the Old Bahama
Resort and also worked in the same capacity at Little Palm Island, Parrot
Cay and the K Club.
Robert Kramm has been named General Manager and Chief Operating Officer
at Old Bahama Bay Resort. Kramm's most recent previous position was that
of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for USA Parking Systems in Fort
Lauderdale. He also served as the General Manager of Pier 66.
Ronen Nissenbaum has been appointed General Manager of the new InterContinental
Buckhead, slated to open in November 2004. Nissenbaum originally joined
InterContinental Hotels Group in 1996 and has managed InterContinental
Hotels in Paris and Tel Aviv.
Massimo Ianni has been appointed General Manager at the new Philippe-Starck-designed
Hotel Faena in Buenos Aires scheduled to open in August. He previously
managed his own consulting company in Buenos Aires and assumed the full
management of two small deluxe properties in Argentina. Prior to that,
Ianni was with Hyatt for fourteen years and was the opening General Manager
of the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires (now the Four Seasons Buenos Aires).
Jort Buning has been transferred to the Iberostar Cozumel as General
Manager. He previously held the same position at the Iberostar Barlovento
in Cuba. Buning is a former General Manager of Marbella�s Tony Puente Romano.
Edwin Conway has been named General Manager of the Sedona Rouge, a soon-to-open
boutique hotel. He was previously the General Manager of the Radisson Monarch
Hotel in Dublin, California. He also worked in the same capacity at the
Greenhorn Creek Resort and as Director of Culinary Operations at the California
Culinary Academy in San Francisco.
Joe Hindsley has been appointed General Manager of the Hyatt Regency
Atlanta where he replaces Ted Kanatas. Scott VandenBerg has been named
General Manager of the Grand Hyatt Atlanta where he replaces Tom Voss.
Both Kanatas and Voss were promoted to General Manager and Resident Manager
respectively for the mammoth Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. Hindsley,
a twenty-two-year Hyatt veteran comes to the Hyatt Regency Atlanta from
the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at Union Station where he was the General Manager
for the past five years. VandenBerg, who has worked in sixteen different
Hyatt properties, was previously the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency
Islandia in San Diego.
Florent Gateau has been named Resident Manager at the soon-to-open Setai
in Miami, operated by Amanresorts � sister company, GHM. Gateau previously
logged seven years with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts. A charter member of
the management team at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, he had recently transferred
to the Mansion on Turtle Creek as its Resident Manager.
Jeffrey Jacobs has been hired as Managing Director at L�Escale, the
food and beverage operation of Delamar in Greenwich, Connecticut. Jacobs,
who was until recently the General Manager of the Adam�s Mark St. Louis,
was also the Executive Director of Food and Beverage at New York�s Plaza.
Raluca Leibowitz has been appointed General Manager at the Grove Isle
Resort & Club. She joins from the Hotel Zaza in Dallas, where she served
as Hotel Manager. She also held positions as Corporate Director of Human
Resources for the Melrose Hotel Company, Director of Regional Training
for the Four Seasons Resort & Club in Dallas, and Director of Human
Resources at the Dallas Medallion Hotel.
Mark Lauer has been promoted to Hotel Manager at the Waldorf=Astoria.
He was previously the Director of Sales and Marketing at the hotel. Prior
to his association with the Waldorf, Lauer served as General Manager of
the Doubletree Omaha.
Gerhard Stutz has been transferred from the Pierre where he was the
Director of Food and Beverage to the Regent Beverly Wilshire as Hotel Manager.
Prior to the Pierre, Stutz was the Director of Food and Beverage at the
Four Seasons Newport Beach for three years. Stutz worked in Singapore before,
also with Four Seasons, as Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage
at the Regent of Singapore.
Gregory Malaskias has been appointed Executive Assistant Manager in
charge of Food and Beverage at the Sofitel Lafayette Square in Washington,
DC. He transfers from the Sofitel Athens where he held a similar post.
Pieter Koomen has been appointed Director of Operations for the Washington
Mutual Leadership Center at Cedarbrook in SeaTac. Koomen was previously
at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
Bruce Seigel has been named Area Director of Marketing for Ritz-Carlton
Hotels in Georgia and will oversee the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, the Ritz-Carlton
Buckhead and the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation. Most recently, Seigel
was Director of Marketing at Grande Lakes Orlando, encompassing the Ritz-Carlton
Orlando Grande Lakes, the JW Marriott Orlando and the Ritz-Carlton Golf
Club.
Gregory Fulton has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing
for the Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta. Fulton previously served as
Sales and Marketing Director for the Daufuskie Island Club & Resort.
Nikki Upshaw has been appointed Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing
at Residensea. Upshaw joined Residensea as Vice President of Sales in 2001
to establish a studio residence rental program for The World.
Also at ResidenSea, Emilio Freeman has been named Senior Vice President,
Operations. Freeman joined the company three years ago as the Vice President,
Planning & Analysis.
Cliff Brutus has been named Director of Sales & Marketing of the
Grove Isle Resort & Club. Brutus has been with Noble House Hotels and
Resorts since 2001, when he joined as Director of Leisure Travel Sales
for Florida. Prior to that, Brutus worked for Island Outpost.
Beverly Dolina Roach has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing
at the Marriott Plaza San Antonio. Roach joined the hotel in 1998 and previously
served as the hotel's Associate Director of Sales.
Craig Cunningham has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Marketing
for Wyndham Hotels. Most recently, Cunningham was Vice President of Brand
Marketing. Prior to Wyndham, Cunningham worked at the Richards Group for
ten years, a Dallas-based advertising agency.
George Lysak has been appointed Executive Director of Sales and Marketing
at the Balboa Bay Club. Lysak previously worked as an Event Management
Consultant in Las Vegas for two years. Prior to that, he worked with Ritz-Carlton
for over ten years, as the pre-opening Director of Sales at the Ritz-Carlton
Lake Las Vegas and as the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Ritz-Carlton
Huntington Hotel and Spa.
Terri Reid has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the
St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, replacing Mark Podolski who left the company.
Reid was previously in Australia, the Director of Sales and Marketing at
the Sofitel Wentworth. She also worked with Four Seasons Hotels for several
years at the Regent Sydney and at the company�s worldwide sales offices
in Chicago and Hawaii.
David Chu has joined Kimpton Hotels as Director of Sales and Marketing
for their first New York hotel, scheduled to open in July. Most recently,
Chu was the Director of Sales at the InterContinental The Barclay New York.
Previously he served with Hilton Hotels as Managing Director, Business
and Leisure Sales, for the New York cluster of properties including the
Waldorf=Astoria, Waldorf Towers, Hilton New York, Hilton Times Square,
Millenium Hilton at the World Trade Center and Doubletree Guest Suites.
Jennifer Guevara has been named Director of Sales at Las Ventanas Al
Paraiso. Guevara was previously the Director of Sales for Rosewood � s
two luxury hotels in Dallas, the Mansion on Turtle Creek and the Hotel
Crescent Court.
Carolynn Hemmerich has been promoted to Sales Manager at Las Ventanas
Al Paraiso. Hemmerich joined Las Ventanas in 2001 as Sales Coordinator
and was promoted to Sales & Marketing Coordinator in 2003.
William Bouvier has been appointed Revenue Manager at the Palms Resort
and Spa scheduled to open early 2005 in the Turks and Caicos. Most recently,
Bouvier was the Hotel Manager at Strawberry Hill in Jamaica. He also worked
as Director of Revenue Management for the group for their three properties
in Miami.
Jane Underwood has been promoted to Director of Human Resources at Hospitality
Management Corporation in Dallas. Underwood joined HMC in 1998 as the Executive
Assistant to the President/CEO, the CFO, and the Regional Director of Operations.
Richard Mignault has been named Vice President of Human Resources in
charge of the Northeast Region for Hilton Hotels Corporation. The position
was previously held by Anthony Vazquez, who becomes a consultant to Hilton.
A well-known Human Resources Executive, Mignault was previously the Vice
President of Human Resources and Information Technology at Windsor Casino
Limited in Canada. He also served as Vice President of Human Resources
for SAS International Hotels (now Rezidor). Mignault is no stranger to
Hilton Hotels, with whom he held several senior Human Resources positions
between1980 and 1990.
William Thomas has been appointed Director of Human Resources at the
Four Seasons Jackson Hole. He previously held the same position at the
Wigwam in Arizona. He is replacing Michael Peterman who is moving to a
corporate position with Four Seasons, based out of Seattle.
Jennifer Wachter is the new Director of Catering at the Los Angeles
Convention Center. Most recently, Wachter held the same position at Charlie
Palmer's Astra West at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. Wachter's
previous positions included stints as Catering Sales Manager at La Costa
in Carlsbad and at the Waldorf=Astoria and the Peninsula New York.
Tom James has been promoted to the position of Director of Food and
Beverage at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, where he was previously the Director
of Catering and Conference Services. He replaces Jean Weiss, who has left
to return to Northern California.
Jennifer Gaherty has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing
at the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek. Most Recently, Gaherty worked
as Director of Sales at the Hotel Monaco Seattle and was also a member
of the opening team at the Hotel Monaco Denver where she served as Associate
Director of Sales.
Lee Fundanet has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at
the Sofitel Minneapolis. Fundanet was most recently the Director of Sales
and Marketing at the Doubletree Park Place Minneapolis.
At the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek, Susan Stiff has been appointed
Director of Public Relations. Stiff most recently served as Director of
Public Relations for Denver and Kansas City-area Starwood properties including
Westin, Sheraton and Four Points hotels. Stiff began her hotel public relations
career at the Broadmoor Resort.
Kathleen Spurney has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing
at Crustacean and Prana Lounge in Las Vegas. She was previously the Director
of Catering at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Nancy Helms has been named Director of Sales and Marketing at the Avalon
Hotel & Spa in Portland. Helms previously held various sales positions
at hotels in the Seattle area, including the Westin Seattle and the Four
Seasons Olympic (now the Fairmont).
At the InterContinental Buckhead, Debbie Grant has been named Director
of Marketing and Roland Biron will be the Director of Sales. Grant has
been with InterContinental Hotels Group since 1996.
Brian Keys has been named Director of Food and Beverage at the Hilton
Costa Mesa. Keys most recently served as Assistant Director of Food and
Beverage at the Hilton San Francisco. He also held various Food and Beverage
Management positions at the Hilton Atlanta and Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Philip Real has been transferred to the Ritz-Carlton Chicago as Assistant
Food and Beverage Manager from the Four Seasons Punta Mita where he held
the same position for the past two and a half years. Prior to joining Four
Seasons Hotels, he was at Fisher Island in Florida.
Frank Fraser has joined the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa
as its Director of Catering and Conference Services. Most recently, he
was the Director of Private Events at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. Prior
to working at the Peninsula, Fraser was a Catering Sales Manager at the
Phoenician.
Brian Ettelman has been named Director of Catering and Conference Services
at the Four Seasons Atlanta. Ettelman was most recently the Director of
Catering at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. Before
transferring to Dallas, he was at the Four Seasons Aviara for five years.
Fernando Sá has been appointed Director of Catering and Convention
Services at the InterContinental Resort & Casino San Juan. Sá
previously held various positions with InterContinental in New Orleans
and Rio de Janeiro.
Jim Ries has been appointed Director of Catering and Conference Services
at the InterContinental Buckhead. His claim to fame is to have opened the
first kosher kitchen in Las Vegas at the Four Seasons.
Leslie Young is joining New York�s landmark Algonquin as its Financial
Controller. She most recently held the same position at the Regent Wall
Street until it closed down earlier this year.
Scott Hagan is the Director of Rooms at New York�s hip new Hotel Gansevoort.
He was previously at the Regent Wall Street as Rooms Division Manager.
Prior to that, Hagan worked in the same capacity at the Helmsley Park Lane.
Federico Blizniuk is joining the Four Seasons Buenos Aires as Front
Desk Manager. He was previously the Guest Services Manager at the Cipriani
Collection Punta del Este.
Margaret Thomas is the new Director of Front Office Operations at the
Millennium Biltmore. She was previously at the Sofitel Los Angeles as Front
Office Manager for two years and also held the same position at the Hotel
Bel-Air. Her background also includes various reservations and purchasing
positions at the InterContinental Los Angeles, now the Omni Los Angeles.
Gabriel Kreuther will be leaving the Ritz-Carlton Central Park South
where he had been the Executive Chef for two years to become the Executive
Chef at New York�s MOMA, currently closed for renovation and expansion
and scheduled to reopen in November 2004. The expansion will include a
90-seat café and 100-seat formal restaurant called Le Moderne developed
by uber-restaurateur Danny Meyer of Union Square Hospitality. Prior to
joining the Ritz-Carlton, Kreuther had been the Chef de Cuisine at Jean-Georges
for five years.
Brian Young has been appointed Executive Chef at L'Escale in Greenwich,
Connecticut. He will also assume the role of Corporate Chef for Le Colonial
New York and Le Colonial Chicago. Most recently, he was the Executive Chef
at the Harvest Restaurant. He also worked at the acclaimed Le Bernardin
in New York as Chef de Cuisine.
Joseph Humphrey is the new Executive Chef at Auberge du Soleil. He was
previously the Corporate Chef for the Michael Mina Restaurant Group in
San Francisco. He worked with Chef George Morrone for several years at
Redwood Park, the Fifth Floor and One Market in San Francisco.
George Morrone is opening Tartare, his own restaurant in San Francisco,
scheduled to open in July. Morrone's partner on this project is former
Kimpton Operations Director Aabi Shapoorian. Morrone was the opening Chef
at both Aqua and the Fifth Floor. He was also the opening Chef at Redwood
Park. His Chef de Cuisine at Tartare is Steven Fretz who worked with him
at the Fifth Floor and Redwood Park.
Christian Schmidt has been named Executive Chef at New York�s Plaza
where he is replacing Bruno Tison who was transferred two months ago by
Fairmont to the Sonoma Mission Inn. Schmidt comes from Mandarin-Oriental
in New York and Miami. He opened both hotels as Executive Chef.
At the Mandarin-Oriental New York, Schmidt�s successor is long-time
associate Jason Weaver, who had worked with Schmidt at the Ritz-Carlton
Dearborn several years ago. Weaver had joined Schmidt in the opening of
the Mandarin-Oriental Miami prior to following him to New York as his opening
Executive Sous Chef.
Damon Gordon has been appointed Executive Chef at Mix New York. He was
previously at the Delano as Executive Chef, also with China Grill Management
and at the Royalton in New York.
Stephane Becht has been named Executive Chef at the Delano in Miami.
He was most recently the Executive Chef at the Edge Restaurant in Pennsylvania
and at Cucina in New York. Becht also was the Executive Chef at the One
and Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas and the Executive Sous Chef at the Ritz-Carlton
Marina Del Rey.
Sébastien Pfeifer has been appointed Executive Chef at the Sofitel
Los Angeles. Pfeifer comes from the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine.
He takes the position left vacant at the beginning of the year by Gilles
Arzur who was transferred to the Sofitel Montreal.
Gregg Monette has been named Corporate Executive Chef for Columbia Hospitality.
Monette was previously at the Chateau on the Lake Resort Hotel and Conference
Center in Springfield, Missouri.
Kajsa Dilger has been appointed Executive Chef at the Resort at Deer
Harbor on Orcas Island. Most recently, Dilger was the opening Executive
Chef at the Carlyle Restaurant in Portland. Prior to moving to the Northwest,
Dilger spent her time in Southern California, as the Corporate Chef at
Border Grill.
At KSL Resorts, Executive Chef Hans Wiegand has been transferred from
the Claremont to La Costa.
Melinton Mecinas has been transferred to the Four Seasons Los Angeles
as Executive Sous Chef. He worked previously in the same capacity at the
Four Seasons Santa Barbara. Mecinas joined Four Seasons five years ago.
He previously worked in Los Angeles with the Patina Group for several years.
He replaces Lewis Butler who left Four Seasons to become the Executive
Chef at Rancho Bernardo Inn.
Olivier Ramos has been transferred to the Ritz-Carlton Boston as Executive
Sous Chef from the Hotel Arts Barcelona where he held the same position.
Prior to joining Ritz-Carlton, Ramos was with the Savoy Group in London. |
