Daryl Ansel, a Cornell graduate, has been appointed Chief Financial
Officer of the Starr Restaurant Group of Philadelphia. He previously worked
in the same capacity for Grill Concepts in Los Angeles for the past three
and a half years. Ansel also was the President of the Los Angeles Chapter
of the Cornell Hotel Society.
Ansel joins former Cornell classmate Howard Wein, who has been appointed
Chief Operating Officer of the Starr Restaurant Group. Wein was previously
the Corporate Director of Food and Beverage of Westin Hotels and Resorts
and held various Corporate Food and Beverage Management positions with
Starwood.
Nick Naples is joining forces with fellow Cornell alumni Colgate Holmes,
Gene Ference and Alan Ostroff as a partner of the newly-formed High Tech
High Touch Hotel Group. The ambitious team already has projects in New
York and Chicago and will have a partner in Asia. Naples spent the past
four years with Harrah's Casinos as its Corporate Vice President Hotel
Operations. He is a former Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons man.
Brad Jencks, who graduated from Cornell in 1971, has been appointed
General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas. Jencks' most recent position
was that of Senior Vice President for Construction Management and Development
in Honolulu. A seasoned resort operator, he held the top job at the Turtle
Bay Resort, the Pointe Hilton South Mountain, the Wailea InterContinental
Maui and Honolulu's prestigious Halekulani.
Peter Ells has been appointed General Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Phoenix.
Ells previously worked in the same capacity at the Renaissance Parc 55
in San Francisco for seven years and at the St. Anthony InterContinental
in Texas.
Guenter Richter has left his position as Managing Director of the St.
Regis New York (his second stint there; the first one was in the eighties)
to move to Miami, where he had lived for several years as the Managing
Director of the Grand Bay Hotel. His successor at the St. Regis New York
is Scott Geraghty.
Steven Kalczynski has been appointed General Manager of the St. Regis
Los Angeles. Prior to the move, Kalczynski was the Director of Franchise
Operations for Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
William Geiler has joined Interstate Hotels & Resorts as Executive
Vice President of Acquisitions. Geiler joins the company from Wyndham International
where he held a similar position for the past eight years.
Lynn Ericksen has been named General Manager of the Hilton Sedona Resort
& Spa. Ericksen most recently served as General Manager of the Hotel
at MIT in Cambridge, a Hilton-managed property.
Jeffrey Brower joins L�Auberge de Sedona, as General Manager. Brower
joins after eight years of tenure with Ritz-Carlton. He served as Executive
Assistant Manager, Rooms Division at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota.
Roger Beck has joined the Resort at Squaw Creek as Managing Director.
Beck�s hospitality career spans more than thirty years including Sun Valley
Resort, Snowmass Resort Association and Vail Resorts Development Company.
Manfred Van Sasse has joined the Pivotal Group of Phoenix as Vice President
Lodging. He was previously the Vice President Development for Westmont
Hospitality. Arizona-based Pivotal owns the St. Regis Los Angeles and the
Westin Century Plaza.
Heather Strauss joins Elk Mountain Resort as General Manager taking
over from Jean-Luc Maumus. Prior to that, Strauss worked in the same capacity
at the Portland Harbor Hotel and the Eastland Park Hotel. Elk Mountain
Resort, a Small Luxury Hotel, opened this month and is operated by Jack
Westergom�s Manhattan Hospitality Advisors.
Jim Durbin is the newly appointed General Manager of the Stanford Hotel
in downtown San Diego. Durbin was most recently the President and Chief
Executive Officer of Great Pacific Hotels.
Andrew Tilley has joined New York�s Paramount (soon-to-be-renamed the
Hard Rock Hotel) as General Manager. Tilley was previously the General
Manager of the Chambers Hotel and the Empire, both in New York. Prior to
becoming a General Manager, Tilley had a substantial career in hotel sales
and marketing in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Linda Norman has been named General Manager of the Hilton Los Angeles
North/Glendale. She most recently served as General Manager of the Doubletree
Guest Suites Tampa Bay.
Donald Padgett II is the new President of Pinehurst in North Carolina.
He was most recently the General Manager of the Firestone Country Club
in Akron, Ohio.
Marc Langevin has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Grand
Cayman. He had left the Ritz-Carlton Cleveland where he was the Director
of Food and Beverage over a year ago to become a Regional Director of Operations
with the Boykin Group. Prior to moving to Cleveland with Ritz-Carlton,
Langevin was the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at the Beverly
Hills Hotel.
Peter Roth has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago
where he is replacing Matthias Kiehm. Roth previously held the same position
at the Four Seasons Mexico City and also worked at the Four Seasons Carmelo
and the Four Seasons Berlin in a similar capacity. Prior to joining Four
Seasons, Roth worked in Spain at the Marbella Club as Resort Manager.
lper Oztok has joined the Four Seasons Philadelphia as Hotel Manager
where he is replacing Vikram Reddy. Oztok, a Turk, was most recently the
General Manager of the (former) Swissôtel Atlanta following several
years at the Swissôtel Chicago.
Michael King has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington
Hotel & Spa. Most recently, King was President of Associated Luxury
Inns in South Carolina.
James Gibson has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton San
Juan. He most recently held the position of General Manager at the Adam�s
Mark in Columbia, South Carolina and worked in numerous rooms division
positions with Hyatt Hotels in locations as diverse as Boston, Palm Springs
and Washington, DC.
Frank Spielvogel has rejoined Swissôtel as the General Manager
of the Swissôtel Lima. He previously served at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut
Grove as Director of Operations. Spielvogel worked with Swissôtel
before in Chicago as Executive Assistant Manager for two years and actually
worked at the Lima property for two years.
Frédéric Boulin has been transferred to the Grand Hyatt
Sao Paulo as Resident Manager. He was previously at the Grand Hyatt Seoul
for three years as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage.
Prior to joining Hyatt, Boulin was with Mandarin-Oriental in Hong Kong
as Food and Beverage Director. Previous experience also includes seven
years with InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.
Tracey Fentem has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing at
the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman scheduled to open late Fall 2004. Prior to
her current position, Fentem served as Area Director of Incentive &
Insurance Sales for the Ritz-Carlton, Caribbean & Mexico for two years
and Director of Sales and Marketing at the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Jamaica.
In addition to her Ritz-Carlton experience, she served as Director of Sales
for several other noted Caribbean resorts, such as the El Conquistador
Resort & Country Club in Puerto Rico as well as Hyatt Resorts Caribbean.
Robert Andy Anderson has been appointed head of Sales and Marketing
for Destinations Hotels and Resorts in Denver. Anderson spent the last
fourteen years working closely with Atef Mankarios, most recently as head
of Sales & Marketing at St. Regis Hotels, preceded by Foresthills Hotels
and before that at Rosewood Hotels. He began his career with Hyatt and
also worked with Four Seasons before joining Rosewood.
Tara Guffroy Grand has rejoined Four Seasons as Sales Manager for the
Four Seasons Tokyo at Chinzan-So based in the Los Angeles office. Her previous
Four Seasons experience was at the Four Seasons Houston and the Four Seasons
London Canary Wharf.
Amanda Puck is the new Director of Business Development at the Experiential
Agency in Chicago. Most recently, she was a Managing Partner at Spago in
Chicago for seven years. Before moving to Chicago, she worked in San Francisco
as a Maitre D' at Hawthorne Lane. Puck is a graduate of Cornell.
Lucinda Gaudio has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at
the Hotel Kitano in New York replacing Gail Calemmo who has been named
General Manager of the Gershwin Hotel. Gaudio previously worked in the
same capacity at the InterContinental Central Park South and the Lombardy.
Scott Robison has been appointed Director of Sales at the Lansdowne
Resort. He comes from the Hilton Washington and the Capital Hilton, where
he was an Assistant Director of Sales.
Jona Houghtaling has been appointed Regional Sales Manager, Group Accounts
for the Mandarin-Oriental Hotel Group in New York. Houghtaling was most
recently at the Waldorf=Astoria where she handled the group segment for
the Northeast corporate and financial markets.
Christine Alicea has left the Savoy Hotel to join the new Hotel Victor
in Miami's South Beach as Sales and Marketing Manager.
Steve Tremewan has been named Director of Sales and Marketing at the
Resort at Squaw Creek. Prior to that, Tremewan held various positions with
Interstate Hotels & Resorts in Palm Springs, Scottsdale and Colorado
Springs.
Don Ehehalt is leaving the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills
where his most recent position was as Assistant Director of Catering. He
has been appointed Director of Business Development, Western Region with
Savoya, a worldwide leader in chauffeured ground transportation services.
A sixteen-year company veteran, Ehehalt had also worked at other Four Seasons
properties in Santa Barbara, Palm Beach and Aviara.
Gina Parodi has been appointed Director of Human Resources at the Lodge
and Spa at Cordillera. Parodi has over ten years experience in human resources
and organizational development with Eli Lilly and BCE Corporation.
Jonathan Lowenhar has been promoted to Corporate Vice President Loyalty
Marketing for Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Prior to his promotion, Lowenhar
held the role of Corporate Director.
Mehrdad "Mike" Saeidi is the new Director of Finance at the Standard
Downtown Los Angeles. Saeidi was most recently the Director of Finance
at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay for two years and worked for five years
at the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage where he first started as the Assistant
Controller.
Rich Hamilton has been appointed Director of Finance at the Resort at
Squaw Creek. He was previously with Paradox Consulting in Pebble Beach.
Jacqueline Deverich has been appointed Controller at the Lodge and Spa
at Cordillera. She was previously with Destination Services of Colorado
and Vail Resorts.
Adrian McNally joins the Fairmont Kansas City as Director of Operations.
McNally has been with the Fairmont organization since 1997 most recently
as Director of Rooms at the Fairmont San Jose.
Xavier Moulin has joined Raffles L'Ermitage Beverly Hills as Assistant
Rooms Division Manager. Moulin was previously at the St. Regis Los Angeles
as Guest Services Manager.
François Grand has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage
at Mondrian for China Grill Management. He previously worked at the Peninsula
in Beverly Hills as Director of Restaurants and Lounges and with Four Seasons
for five years in Houston and New York in various Food and Beverage management
positions.
George Blackensee has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at
the Sanibel Island Resort. He previously worked in the same capacity at
the Sutton Place in Newport Beach for three years. His successor there
is Kevin Campbell who comes from the Balboa Bay Club and Ritz-Carlton.
Blackensee also was the Director of Food and Beverage at the Westin St.
Francis.
Bernard Viola has been appointed Executive Assistant Manager and Director
of Food and Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Jamaica where he
took over from Don Lenahan who left for the Mandarin-Oriental in Washington
DC. Prior to that Viola was in Saudi Arabia for three years where he opened
the Sunset Beach Resort as Acting Operations Manager and Director of Food
and Beverage.
William Hacking has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage by
China Grill Management and will oversee Food and Beverage operations at
the Hard Rock Chicago. He was previously at the Four Seasons Philadelphia
for seven years.
Vicente Rubianes is the newly appointed Food and Beverage Manager at
the Occidental el Ambajador in the Dominican Republic. Rubianes has been
with Occidental since 2000, most recently at the Occidental Royal Hideaway
Resort & Spa in Playa del Carmen, México.
Marc Handl has joined the Park Hyatt Chicago as Director of Food and
Beverage. Handl was most recently at the Grand Hyatt Beijing as Assistant
Director of Food and Beverage. Emmanuel Nony was promoted from Director
of Food and Beverage to Executive Assistant Manager at the Park Hyatt Chicago.
Jorge Moran joins Esperanza in Los Cabos as Director of Food and Beverage.
Moran was most recently at the Real Intercontinental Costa Rica and the
Mayan Palace Puerto Peñasco in Sonora having spent three years at
the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita as Director of Food and Beverage.
Jean-Louis Magron joins Villa La Estancia in Los Cabos as Food and Beverage
Director. Having spent many years with Camino Real Hoteles, Magron was
most recently with the United States Embassy in Mexico City and the Hilton
Los Cabos.
Axel Rudolph has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the
Hotel Gansevoort by China Grill Management. He transfers from Tuscan where
he had been the General Manager for the past six months.
Rolando Ramos has been transferred to Tuscan as General Manager by China
Grill Management. He was previously the Director of Food and Beverage in
charge of the opening at the Hotel Gansevoort and worked in the same capacity
at Hudson.
Patrick Sicard will be joining the soon-to-open Mix Las Vegas as its
General Manager. Sicard was previously with Lenotre and Hard Rock International.
Thomas Haas has been appointed Corporate Director of Food and Beverage
for Tiburon Hospitality Management and its three resort properties. In
addition, he will also be the Acting Director of Food and Beverage for
the Carefree Resort & Villas. Prior to joining THM, Haas, a Cornell
alumnus, was the Vice President of Food and Beverage for Noble House Hotels
& Resorts.
Mark Neubert is the new Director of Operations for the Mina Group in
San Francisco, which handles Aqua at Bellagio, Seablue and Nob Hill at
the MGM Grand and Michael Mina at the St. Francis opening July 2004. Neubert
was previously the owner of Beyond Food in Los Angeles and worked for the
Kor Group as Corporate Hotel Operations Manager and Corporate Director
of Food and Beverage. Neubert also was the Director of Food and Beverage
at Casa Del Mar.
Bryan Phillon, previously of Aqua San Francisco, will be the General
Manager of the soon-to-open Michael Mina at the Westin St. Francis. Jeffrey
Lloyd will be rejoining Mina as Executive Chef with Rajat Parr as Sommelier.
Patric Yumul has joined Innovative Dining/Sushi Roku as Operating Partner
along with Clinton Clausen who was previously the General Manager of Fiamma
at the MGM Grand. Yumul was with the Mina Group for four years previously
and worked for seven years with Morton's Restaurant Group. Yumul and Clausen
will be opening Sushi Roku and Balboa Las Vegas, both located within the
Forum Shops at Caesar�s Palace.
Michael Cicutto has been named Director of Conference Services at the
Georgian Terrace Hotel. He most recently served as Resident Manager at
the Ocean Place Conference Resort in New Jersey.
Bret Winograd has been promoted from Assistant General Manager at Aqua
at Bellagio to General Manager at Seablue at the MGM Grand.
Stephan Schüpbach has been promoted to Director of Food and Beverage
at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch. He replaces David Clark who has been
promoted to Director of Rooms. Schüpbach joined the hotel in September
2002 as its opening Executive Chef. Prior to moving to the mountain, Schüpbach
worked in a number of resorts including the Ritz-Carlton San Juan and the
Royal Mirage and the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai. He also was the Executive
Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg and worked at the Regent of Hong Kong.
Ron Siegel, who had been the Executive Chef at Masa's, one of the premier
restaurants in San Francisco, for the past four years, is leaving to take
over the Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco. He is replacing
Sylvain Portay, who had been the Chef at the Dining Room for the past eight
years. Portay will be working as a Consultant, helping his mentor Alain
Ducasse open Mix in Las Vegas.
Ludovic Lefebvre has been appointed Executive Chef at Bastide where
he is replacing Alain Giraud. Lefebvre had left his position of Executive
Chef at L'Orangerie two years ago and had been working on the opening of
a new restaurant at the W in Westwood with Innovative Dining/Sushi Roku.
Patrick Lassaque is the new Pastry Chef at the Mandarin-Oriental Miami.
He previously worked in the same capacity at the Westin Diplomat Resort
and at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Prior to that, he worked with Ritz-Carlton
in Laguna Niguel and Cancun.
Anya Crain has joined Sonoma Saveurs as General Manager. Crain was most
recently Vice Chairman of the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission in Sonoma.
Crain's prior experience includes Marketing, Communication and Public Relations
positions at the Mary Homi International Public Relations Agency, Campton
Place and Checkers hotels and at the Rossi Group.
Bruno Chemel will be leaving Aqua at the St. Regis Monarch Beach where
he has been the Executive Chef for a year and a half, to open a new restaurant
in San Francisco for Jocelyn Bulow. Bulow also owns Chez Maman, Plouf and
Chez Papa. Prior to his position at Aqua, Chemel was the Corporate Chef
of George Chen Restaurants and the Real Restaurants Group.
Jean-Paul Capitaine has joined the Raffles Canouan Island Resort as
Executive Chef. Capitaine actually worked at the property two years ago
when it was operated by Rosewood as the Carénage Bay Resort. Capitaine
was previously the Executive Chef at the Hotel Tamanaco InterContinental
in Caracas and also worked as Executive Sous Chef at the Ritz-Carlton San
Juan.
Stacy Pederson has been appointed Director of Human Resources at the
Lansdowne Resort in Virginia. She comes from the La Jolla Marriott and
the San Antonio Rivercenter Marriott.
Toni Robertson has joined the Mandarin-Oriental San Francisco as Executive
Chef. She previously worked in the same capacity at the St. Regis Los Angeles
and as a Development Chef with Darden Restaurants in Florida. Robertson
also worked as an Executive Chef in Singapore at the Pan Pacific Hotel
and in South Africa at the Palace Hotel.
Ozgen Cevik has been named Food and Beverage Manager at the Chanler
in Newport, Rhode Island. He was previously at New York�s Bryant Park Hotel
as its Director of Food and Beverage.
Stefan Kauth has been named Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut
Grove where he is replacing Thomas Ryan who left the company. Kauth was
previously the Banquet Chef at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino for
over a year and worked as Executive Chef at the Stirling Club. A German,
Kauth moved to the United States seven years ago with Ritz-Carlton and
worked as Chef the Cuisine at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach.
Kathleen Hall has been promoted to Spa Director at the Spa at the Resort
at Squaw Creek. She was previously the Spa Manager. |
