GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio (June 25, 2004) -- Festivities framed by a
spectacular view of Lake Erie celebrated the opening of The Lodge &
Conference Center at Geneva State Park this past May. It is the first
state park lodge to be built in more than 13 years and is attracting conference
and banquet reservations from throughout the region.
A New Era For State Park Lodges The highest standards of quality and service are reflected throughout
the Lodge, mirroring the commitment to quality and service of Delaware
North Companies Parks & Resorts, Inc., a subsidiary of Delaware North
Companies, Inc., which operates the full-service hotel and conference facility.
The Lodge & Conference Center at Geneva State Park is the first state park lodge in Ohio to be constructed and managed with local funds, the result of a partnership between Ashtabula County and the State of Ohio. The new state park lodge is expected to offer substantial economic benefits that include job creation and support a growing Ashtabula County conference and leisure travel business. The Lodges distinctive presence along the shore of Lake Erie is expected to help Ashtabula County attract thousands of new visitors each year, as well as enhance the appeal of an area rich in recreational, historical and entertainment offerings, said Robert Boggs, president of the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners. . We believe that The Lodge & Conference Center at Geneva State Park will help elevate the state park lodge experience -- from the classic, stylish décor and fine dining offerings to the delivery of exceptional quality and service, said Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts President Bruce Fears. Exceptional Accommodations The premier hotel and conference center is a state lodge like no other. The Lodge & Conference Center at Geneva State Park offers luxury at a value price. The resort includes109 guest rooms, an upscale restaurant, a grand ballroom that seats 250, conference facilities, a wine tasting room, and a lounge featuring live entertainment on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Amenities include a fitness center that overlooks Lake Erie; game room; glass-enclosed, spacious indoor pool; and gift shop. A total of 65 meetings and events are booked through year-end, with an additional 10 events reserved for 2005 and beyond. The demand for meeting space represents a cross-section of organizations including corporate, government and non-profit entities. In addition, a total of 23 weddings have already been booked for 2004, and the Lodge has started booking weddings for 2005 and beyond. "The Lake Erie coastline, upscale décor and accommodations throughout the Lodge & Conference Center, as well as the offer of four-star amenities and service at a three-star price have contributed to the popularity of the Lodge as a premier meeting and banquet site," said General Manager Jeannette Petrolia. The Conference Center offers a total of 8,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, a business suite equipped with Internet connections and fax and copy capabilities, audiovisual equipment and support, and an extensive banquet menu. The Lodge's Lake Erie ballroom can accommodate banquet seating for up to 250 and 350 theater style. Three conference rooms, which can be divided into six breakout rooms, can meet a full spectrum of conference and banquet needs, from a corporate-wide training session to an executive board meeting. "In addition to being a great resource for businesses and residents in northeast Ohio, were finding a healthy percentage of the meetings and conferences being booked are from organizations outside Ashtabula County. The fact that we offer 109 affordable, upscale guest rooms has been well received by businesses as well as consumers who also need to consider accommodations when planning their next meeting or event," Petrolia noted. The Lodge is located at 4888 State Route 534 in Geneva-on-the-Lake. Geneva State Park encompasses 698 acres featuring 1.6 miles of Lake Erie shoreline as well as a beach and new bathhouse, six-lane boat ramp and marina, hiking, picnic areas and more.
