Partner to Franchise Marriott Execustay in Hartford and Springfield, Mass. Markets |
Washington, D.C. April 1, 2004 Marriott
ExecuStay, the corporate housing division of Marriott International, Inc.
(NYSE:MAR), today announced that most of the state of Connecticut, including
Hartford and Springfield, Mass., are its newest franchised markets in a
partnership between existing ExecuStay franchisee Potomac Hospitality Services,
Inc., (PHS), and new franchisee Philip Schonberger, a Hartford developer
who is a principal in the downtown Hartford Residence Inn by Marriott.
The agreement becomes effective April 1.
PHS became an ExecuStay franchisee in December 2003 when it took over the operation of ExecuStays Center City, Phila., market. The principals of PHS are founder Conrad Cafritz, a developer in the Washington, D.C., area; and Don Minkler, president, who has over 20 years of hotel marketing and corporate housing experience, including eight years with Marriott in various leadership positions. Mr. Schonberger is involved in numerous development projects in downtown Hartford, including a multi-family historic preservation project next to the Residence Inn. Joe Lavin, executive vice president and managing director for Marriott ExecuStay, noted that ExecuStays franchise program has attracted a mixture of hotel owners and operators, owners of existing corporate housing businesses, and apartment owners and developers. We are building on our vision of connecting the best providers with the best brand, he said. This is our second franchise with Potomac Hotel Services, and we anticipate continuing mutual success. Mr. Minkler said, The support Marriott ExecuStay has provided since we initiated our franchise in Philadelphia has been impressive. The sales resources and initiatives available and contemplated by Marriott, as well as the ability to offer Marriott Rewards points, makes our adding another franchise very appealing. The contact for prospective Marriott ExecuStay franchisees is Gregory
