of Sales for Small Luxury Hotels of the World
.
NEW YORK, March 22, 2004 In a move further illustrating their dedication to the American market, Small Luxury Hotels of the World announced that they have hired Jon Makhmaltchi to become Regional Director of Sales for the West Coast.  After recently strengthening their marketing power in The Americas by creating a larger office in New York, SLH saw a need to expand even farther.  The demand by American travel agents and consumers continues to grow and SLH will continue to grow alongside that demand to make sure every need is met, commented SLH Global Spokesman Brian Mills.

After beginning his career as Sales Manager at The Park Hyatt in San Francisco, Mr. Makhmaltchi joined the sales team of the Hyatt at Fishermans Wharf.  Subsequent to honing his sales skills on the Wharf, Mr. Makhmaltchi moved on to his first endeavor in the family of Small Luxury Hotels as he became the Director of Sales & Marketing for The Huntington Hotel & Nob Hill Spa in San Francisco, a member of SLH.  While at The Huntington, Makhmaltchi oversaw all of the transient and group revenue production, as well as managed the Sales, Catering, Reservations and Public Relations departments.  In June of 2003, Makhmaltchi later moved on to Napa where he was appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at the newly opened Carneros Inn.  While there, Makhmaltchi was responsible for the Sales & Marketing department of a newly opened five-star resort, all the while focusing on selling and branding the property to the West Coast leisure travel market.

Makhmaltchi now brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and professionalism to Small Luxury Hotels.  We are thrilled to have Jon join our team.  He knows the luxury market and will help us elevate SLH to the next level, remarked Ed Donaldson, VP of Marketing, The Americas.  Mr. Makhmaltchi will be responsible for representing the SLH brand on the West coast and seeing to the needs of the travel community west of the Mississippi.
