to manage our Fiji and Seychelles hotels. After a thorough selection process,
we became convinced that the Dusit experience, knowledge and expertise
would result in a considerable and significant contribution to our two
companies long-term, mutual benefit and success.
The first of the three new hotels is a medium-size five-star property
with 256 guest rooms located at Korolevu Bay, Fiji, scheduled to open mid-
2005. It will be followed by another luxurious grand deluxe hotel with
60 villas on Nacula Island, Fiji, opening during the latter months of 2005,
while the third project is a private grand deluxe villa hotel with only
10 highly exclusive villas on Therese Island, Seychelles, opening at the
end of 2005.
At present, the tourism industry in Fiji and the Seychelles has been
expanding steadily since 1970, continuously enhanced by these enchanting,
incomparably beautiful groups of islands, which are surrounded by crystal
clear waters, hundreds of pristine unexplored coral reefs and blessed with
superb weather all year round. Both Fiji and the Seychelles Islands
each in their own right have been called A masterpiece of the gods.
Dusit Hotels and Resorts is Thailands pioneering and dynamic hotel
group with properties in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Dubai,
UAE and the new acquisitions in Fiji Islands and Seychelles. Through the
years, Dusit has gained an unmatched reputation for exclusive luxury accommodation,
fine dining, modern facilities and impeccable service for the business
and leisure traveller alike.
More importantly, Dusit is one of the top hotel companies in the resort
hotel area, and has more properties than many other hotel companies in
the region. With three new resort hotels in the Pacific and Indian Ocean

accessible by air. Frequent non-stop flights serve Fiji from North America
and Europe via Honolulu, Sydney and Auckland with the same aircraft or
connections to and from major cities around the world. Air Pacific, the
national carrier is increasing flights, to bring 9,700 travellers a week
to Fiji. Air New Zealand likewise continues to expand its services through
Fiji.
Tourism is Fijis largest gross foreign exchange earner. Fijis tourism
industry employs directly and indirectly about 40,000 people, and contributes
17% to GDP. Latest statistics reveal the average length of stay of tourists
was around 8.5 days. The majority of visitors are from Australia, while
visitors from New Zealand and other tourist markets continue to increase. |
