Jackie Chan was conferred an Honorary Professorship at the School of Hotel
& Tourism Management (HTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
in January 2004.
In his capacity as the Hong Kong Tourism Ambassador, Jackie inaugurated School of Hotel and Tourism Management�s �Chair Professor�s Distinguished Lecture Series� last October by speaking to more than 1,000 Hong Kong PolyU students. �Everybody can be a tourism ambassador by smiling at visitors.�, he noted. By appointing Jackie as HTM�s Honorary Professor, Hong Kong PolyU will have his guidance in the area of student leadership development, guest lectures and advice for the School. A formal ceremony for the conferment took place in January as part of a major fund-raising event for Hong Kong PolyU, entitled �An Evening with Prof Jackie Chan�, which also included the Gala Premiere of Traces of a Dragon: Jackie Chan and His Lost Family, and a dinner with Jackie held at the InterContinental Hong Kong. A total of US$500,000 was raised for student scholarship and development. �Prof Jackie Chan did a great job in motivating our students by sharing his personal view of life, his way of striving for excellence and how we can work together in time of difficulty,� said Prof Kaye Chon, Chair Professor and Head of School of Hotel & Tourism Management. |
